"Do you have anything that you want to give back to 7?" Natalie asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Henry said. "I just got home. I've spent the last 10 hours 8 here from Los Angeles."

Dear Agatha, I'm an eighth grader. My problem is CraftClash. I can't stop playing the game! My mom only lets me play for half an hour every day. But I play much longer — at least two hours. I sometimes stay up all night playing it with my friends. When I try to do my homework or read a book, I only think about CraftClash. Now my mom doesn't let me use the computer. So I play on my phone! I know it's not a good habit. Should I delete it from my computer and phone? Thanks, Tony |
Dear Tony, You're having a problem with self-control (自制力). But don't worry. Lots of boys write to our magazine and talk about this problem. You don't need to stop completely (完全地). It's like eating candy. It is only bad for you if you have too much. You can listen to your mom to play for half an hour each day, but try to break that time into three parts. Do your homework for thirty minutes. Then play for ten minutes as a reward (奖励). After ten minutes, start over. This helps lots of people. Good luck! Agatha |

Every weekend, a rich man went to a big hotel with his family. Every time he went to the hotel, he always saw a poor man sitting on the bench (长椅) across from the hotel, looking at the hotel.
The rich man was curious about the poor man. He asked the poor man one day, "Excuse me, but I just want to know why you always sit here looking at the hotel."
"Sir (先生)," the poor man said,"I've no home. Every night I sleep on the bench and dream that one day I will sleep in that hotel."
"That's simple. I'll pay for the best room in that hotel for you for a whole month. Tonight your dream will come true," said the rich man.
A week later, the rich man went to the hotel again. He thought that the poor man would be very happy about his new home. However, when he went to the hotel, he found that the poor man was still sleeping on the bench at night.
"Oh! Why don't you live in the hotel?" asked the rich man.
"You see, when I'm down here sleeping on the bench, I always dream of sleeping in the hotel. But when I was up there in the hotel, I dreamed that I was back here on this old bench. I could not sleep at all!" said the poor man.
One day I got a call. It said I won a competition and I could take a trip to Guadeloupe with a group for free. The next day, on my way home from school, I borrowed (借) a book on Guadeloupe from the library and then I bought a map of Guadeloupe in the bookstore.
I left for the airport (机场) at about 3:00 a.m. It was too early to take a bus, so my dad drove me. When I arrived at Pointe-à-Pitre, a city in Guadeloupe, I took a taxi to the hotel. It was rainy and cloudy when I left London but it was sunny in Pointe-à-Pitre.
The others in the group were Chinese and Japanese. French (法语) is the language of Guadeloupe but we couldn't speak it. So for the next five days, we had language classes before lunch. After lunch, we visited different places and in the evening we played cards.
Then we went to a small island (岛). For the next two weeks, we stayed with the Dinart family in their house. They were very friendly. I often helped Mrs. Dinart clean the house.
I really enjoyed the trip. I met many interesting people and tried lots of new things.

She was very glad to see everything was OK, so she paid Sharon for her work and thanked her. Sharon felt very happy. It seemed like her neighbor would call her the next time. It was a nice job and a great way to make some money.

My name's Mike. My dream was to be a spy (密探) I was nine years old. Every night I dressed up like a real spy! Can you believe that I had a black jacket, dark (glass) and a toy gun (枪)? I even wore them and walked around the neighborhood. Everyone called me Little James Bond.
As a spy I had many stories. One of them was really funny. It (start) when I was coming back from school. I walked slowly along the street. Then I saw my house. I looked again. "I thought I saw something (move) in the window," I said to (I). I crossed the road and looked again. "Yes, there is someone there!"
I went up to my house. The door was opened. I (take) my toy gun out and looked through the window. Oh, there were shadows (影子), lots of shadows! It was a difficult mission (任务). I needed help. So I called the police. I (wait) until the police arrived. "My men are everywhere, Mike. Are you sure there is someone in your house?" The policeman asked. I nodded (点头).
Together they opened the door(quiet) and walked in. Surprise! The room was filled my friends. "Happy birthday, Mike," said my mother. I was so (surprise) that I couldn't say anything!
