Dear Editor,
I'm a Senior I student in a middle school. This term, my favorite teacher, Miss Mao, no longer teaches us. I want to see her, but I'm afraid that she no longer likes me and I don't want to trouble her. I really miss her. What should I do?
Tian Yan
Dear Tian Yan,
It's bad luck that you have lost your favorite teacher. But, if she is still in your school, nothing can stop you going to see her. When she isn't busy, ask her if she minds having a quick chat. You can then tell her she was your favorite teacher—everyone is happy to know that he or she is liked!
If she has left the school, it will be more difficult to meet her. It will be hard, but remember people always come and go in their lives. We can't rely on them to be with us all the time.
You may be sad to say goodbye to her, but we can remember and learn from her. Think of her best qualities.
You could also try looking for similar qualities in your other teachers. Study hard and give your new teacher a chance. In time, you might start to see that he or she has different qualities to learn from.
Finally you can not completely rely on other people to get you through your studies, or even your life.

How to Become a Better Student
Maybe you are not a good student. You probably think you will never be a top student. This is not necessarily so, however. Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to.
Here is how.
Plan your time carefully.
When planning your week, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making the list, you should make a schedule(计划表) of your time. First arrange your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc. Then decide a good, regular time for studying. Don't forget to set aside enough time for entertainment. A weekly schedule may not solve all the problems, but it will force you to realize what is happening to your time.
Find a good place to study.
Look around the house for a good study .Keep this place, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios or TV!When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.
Make good use of your time in class.
Take advantage of class time to listen to everything the teacher says. Really listening in class means less work later. Taking class notes will help you remember what the teacher says.
Study regularly.
When you get home from school,go over your notes. Review the important points that your teacher has mentioned in class. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read the material. This will help you understand the next class. If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.
Develop a good attitude about the tests.
The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. They help you to remember your new knowledge. The world won't end if you don't pass a test , so don't be overly worried.
There are other methods that might help you with your studying. You will probably discover many others after you have tried these.
In Cos Angel, a waiter served a group of teens. The waiter remembered his experience as a young high school prudent. So he made sure the teens had a pleasant experience at the restaurant. The waiter made sure of it.
After serving all the teens doing a great job, he was left a tip(消费),only$3.28. That was hardly enough to buy a drink at Roebucks.
The waiter went home. And he felt hatred for the students who did not know the value of hard work. They looked down on people like him. Or so he thought.
After several days, the waiter forgot about it. His life went on as usual. But ten days later, he received a letter from the teens.
“About a week and a half ago, on October 7, my three friends and I came to eat at this restaurant as our own homecoming celebration. It was an exciting experience for us to be here alone, and it was all new to us. And you were the best waiter we could ask for. You were kind, helpful, and didn't treat us like babies! So I want to say thank you for making our ‘groan-up'experience so amazing and fun.
“I would also like to say sorry on behalf of(代表) my group. Since we were new to all of this, reasonable(合乎情理),but we had completely forgotten(and didn't know,to be honest) what a tip even was, let alone how much to give. So we emptied our pockets, and all our money added up to $3.28.
“Having no idea of how small this really was ,we left. Later, we realized our mistake and felt terrible. We knew we had to make it right.
“So together with this letter, you will find the correct 18% tip + extra for simply being amazing. Thank you for your help and patience and also thank you for making our night fun. Thank you!”
Many people believe that you lose the ability to learn new languages as you get older. Language experts, however, will tell you that you're never too old to learn a new language. As you get older, it can be more difficult to learn a new language, though.
Children and adults learn new languages in different ways. For children, language is their life. They study for thousands of hours every year, because they need to learn languages to become part of their communities. Adults, on the other hand, are already part of a language community. Learning a new language means becoming part of another language community, and adults rarely get the chance to practice as much as young children do.
Moreover, children learning a new language are expected to make mistakes. This gives them freedom when learning to be daring and confident. Adults, however, often feel pressured to be perfect when learning a new language. This can discourage many people and make it even harder to learn a new language.
When young children learn a new language, they come to see various languages as a “normal” part of society. This mindset(思维模式) helps them embrace learning a new language without feeling like they're doing something unusual or “too hard”.
So if you want to learn a new language, go for it! It's never too late to learn a new language. If you're older, it may take more work, but it can be done. If you're a young child, though, now is the time to step out and learn a new language!
Being a teenager can be difficult, since you're dealing with higher expectations and the process of finding your place in the world. The following are things you can do to achieve that!
Everyone is different in their teenage years. Some teens prefer to spend time with friends, while others prefer to study and work; some prefer to be quiet wallflowers, while others are loud. Saying that there's only one way to enjoy your teenage years is wrong.
Develop your sense of self, focusing more on your own thoughts. Stop paying so much attention to them as many of them are based on what other people think, instead of what you think. Go ahead and do what you want, without factoring others' opinions.
Work on your work ethic(职业道德).What you accomplish in your teen years may determine your opportunities in your adulthood, so dedicate some time to studying and do your best. Learn how to prioritize, whether it's with school work, or any extracurricular activities. Boost your studying skills.
Keep good relations with your family as much as possible. It's the building blocks for ail relationships you develop, whether they're friendships, romantic relationships, or a family you choose to have later on in life. And plus, you see them every day — why not make it nice to spend time with them?
A. Avoid rushing to figure out who you are.
B. For lots of people, the teenage years are full of worries.
C. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the teen years.
D. Family is one of the most important connections in your life.
E. It may not seem enjoyable, but it's helpful later on in life.
F. Understand that there's no one set-in-stone way to enjoy your teenager years.
G. Being a teenager is not necessarily any easier or more difficult than other life stages.
