As soon as Sam2home, he told Papa, "I worked hard on my picture. I made it the best l could. I wanted to win."
"You did work hard," said Papa. "3is a fine picture. I'll hang it in my office. "Mama gave Sam a hug and said, "I hope you congratulated Bob."
Sam shook his head. "Bob was too busy getting his photo taken. ""Then he went to his room. He sulked(生闷气). He didn't feel like doing anything. Sometime later, he got very4. He wondered what Bob was doing. He remembered the fun they had, painting their pictures together.
He decided to do something,5he took out some paper and his painting set. He painted another picture, one6a ship in it. He knew Bob loved ships.

A young man took his elderly father to a restaurant for an evening dinner. The father was very old and weak. While eating, he dropped food on his clothes. Other people watched him eat in disgust(厌恶), but he and his son ignored(忽视) them.
After they finished eating, his son quietly took him to the bathroom, cleaned the food off his clothes and combed his hair. When they came out, the whole restaurant was watching them, not able to understand how someone could embarrass(使尴尬) themselves like that.
The son paid their bill and started walking out of the restaurant with his father.
At that time, another old man in the restaurant called out to the son and asked him, "Don't you think you have left something behind?"
The son answered, "No sir, I haven't."
The old man said, "Yes, you have! You left a lesson for every son and hope for every father."
We all have our favourite music, films or books— but which are the most popular ever?
The most popular album (音乐专辑) Thriller by Michael Jackson At the time Jackson started writing his best-selling album Thriller, he hoped that his album would sell 50 million copies. He was wrong— it sold over ten million more than that. Even today around 130, 000 copies are sold in the USA every year, |
The most popular classical music Beethoven's Fifth Symphony When Beethoven was alive, his Fifth Symphony wasn't his most popular piece of music. But now most people know the da da da dah introduction. In the 20th century, the first four notes (音符) were used by other musicians to make different types of music like hiphop and rock and roll. |
The most popular novel A Tale of Two Cities Many people think the best-selling book of all time is one of the Harry Potter books. It's true that all the Harry Potter books together have sold about 450 million copies. But the most popular single novel is much older. A Tale of Two Cities was written by Charles Dickens in 859 and has sold 250 million copies. |
The most popular ________________ The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption, directed by Frank Darabont in 1994, didn't make much money at the cinema. It only became popular later on video, DVD and TV. It was based on a book by Stephen King. The writer sold the story for only a dollar. |
On the morning of July 10th, 2018, Dr. Tian Jiabing passed away at the age of 99. Most educators will be familiar with his name. Over the course he donated 80% of his wealth, building over 200 schools and 18,000 libraries across the country since the 1980, earning him the title of "Father of 100 Chinese schools"(百校之父).
Tian Jiabing had great success in business. However, in 1997, after the financial crisis (金融危机) in Asia. Tian's businesses were influenced, making it difficult to fulfill promises of donations. In order to make donations as planned, Tian, at the age of 83, decided to sell his home, in which he had lived for 38 years, for 56 million HK dollars. He then donated it to some schools in China, and moved into a small flat with his wife. In 2005, Tian also sold the 130,000-square-metre Tian Square at the price of 300 million HK dollars which was later donated to over 10 universities and secondary schools.
When he was interviewed, he said, "Since I had promised to organize my donations, I decided to sell my house to help these schools. This felt like a more meaningful action. "In interviews Tian expressed that education is linked to a country's strength and cultural development. He said that spending money on education is "spending money in the most useful of places", and that the value of education is far greater than the value of giving money.
Even though every donation was tens or hundreds of millions, Tian Jiabing lived a modest and simple life in Hong Kong. He was also strict with his children. He insisted that it was better to leave posterity(名誉) to the next generation rather than wealth. Tian was respected by people not only because of his great honour, but also because he never asked for returns for his work. Other than his big donations, Tian also gave an example with small actions which help the society get better.
Tian Jiabing is considered as one of China's all-time greatest charitarian(慈善家). More people will know about his efforts and spirit, inspiring and drawing the attention of more people to do good deeds together.
①He started to donate to build schools and libraries.
②The financial crisis broke out and affected his business.
③He bought his home which was sold later.
④The Tian Square was sold to support education.
If music makes you smarter and exercise helps you to think, surely exercising to music can turn you into a clever person.
A team of scientists from Ohio State University did experiments on 33 volunteers who were getting better from heart disease after operations. They found those volunteers who exercised while listening to Italian musician Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons did much better on language ability tests than without music. It is also used in medical fields for patients who have had head hurts because of its moderate tempo(舒缓的节拍).
"Exercise seems to cause positive changes in the nerve (神经) system and these changes may improve the learning ability of people with heart disease," said the psychologist Charles Emery, who led the study. "And listening to music is thought to enhance understanding. We just wanted to put the two results together," he added.
The volunteers said they felt better emotionally and physically after exercising with or without music. But their improvement on the test doubled after listening to music during exercise. Scientists have proved that music can be good for health and education. It helps reduce stress and sadness, encourage relaxation or sleep, wake up the body and improve memory and thoughts.
Scientists have been studying the results of exercise to music on learning and understanding since the early 1950s. A study showed that students who listened to Mozart's violin pieces and exercised went on to get higher marks in an IQ test. With important exams drawing near, your parents will not probably allow you to listen to music or play sports. But perhaps now you have good reasons to argue with them.

Everyone is good at something, but some people are truly talented. It's always to watch other people show their talents. Talent shows are getting more and more . First, there were shows like American Idol and America's Got Talent. Now, there are shows around the world, such as China's Got Talent.
All these shows have one thing in : they try to look for the best singers, the most talented dancers, the most exciting magicians, the funniest actors and so on. All kinds of people these shows.
But who can play the piano the best or sing the most ? That's up to you to decide. When people watch the show, they usually play a in deciding the winner. And the winner always gets a very good prize.
, not everybody enjoys watching these shows. Some think that the lives of the performers are made up. For some people say they are poor farmers, but in fact they are just actors. But, if you don't take these shows too seriously, they are fun to watch. And one great thing about them is that they give people a way to make their dreams come .
