A father and his son were happy when they saw flowers everywhere and the sky full of colorful kites of all kinds. It was the 1 Festival in Weifang, Shandong. The son wanted to fly a kite, too. The father bought a kite for him.
The son began to fly the kite. Soon, his kite was high up in the sky. After a while, the son said, "Father, it seems that the string (绳子) is 2 the kite from flying higher. If we cut it, it will be free and fly even 3. Can we cut it?" The father cut the string off. The kite started to go higher. This made the little boy 4. But then, slowly, the boy saw that the kite began to 5. It soon fell to the ground. The son was surprised to see this. He asked his father, "I thought that 6 cutting the string, the kite would fly higher. 7 did it fall down?" The father explained, "The string was not stopping the kite from going higher, but was helping it 8 in the sky. Using the string, you helped the kite go up in the right direction. But when you cut the 9, it could no longer support the kite. "
We may sometimes feel like there are certain things that are holding us back and stopping us from growing. But 10, these might be the things that support us the most.
When it comes to daily choices, we already have a lot of tasty plant "milks" to choose from, but the latest one, potato milk, is a new one. Potato milk doesn't sound like the most delicious thing in the world, neither does oat milk (燕麦奶).
If you hope to try potato milk, you'll be happy to know that you can make it yourself at home. Generally, you just boil the potato, then mix it with the water it is boiled in, strain (过滤) it and add more water until it is what you want.
The only welcome potato milk, recently has been firstly sold on the market. Although some people noticed the potato milk when it was sold, the success of this "milk" still needs time, as some people who have tried it said that it tasted so so, others thought that it tasted a little salty.
But growing potatoes needs less land than growing oats, and it requires little water. Also it has more production than most plants. The new healthy drink may have a huge hill to climb, but it certainly has a chance to become the next big thing.

Why did Chinese people have more than one name in ancient times?
In ancient China, people's names had three parts, their family name, given name and courtesy name. Take famous poet Li Bai for example. His family name, which came from his father's name, was Li. His given name was Bai, and his courtesy name was Taibai.
People used their given names when they were among family members. But in social life, they called each other by their courtesy names to show respect. This was mostly done among people of similar age. If you were talking about yourself, or if your elders were talking about you, the given name would be used instead of the courtesy name.
Men would get their courtesy names when they turned 20. It was a symbol of adulthood (成年礼). Women would get their courtesy names after getting married.
One's courtesy name often had something to do with one's given name. For example, the name of Mencius was Meng Ke. His courtesy name was Ziyu. Both Ke and Ziyu mean "carriage (马车)". Zhuge Liang's given name was Liang, which means "bright". His courtesy name was Kongming, which means "very bright".
We do eye exercises. We wear sunglasses. We do lots of things to protect our eyes.
Ears help us hear the world. But many things, such as loud noises, can cause hearing troubles. So how can we protect our ears? Let's take a look together.
Keep your ears dry and warm
If you feel water in your ear, shake your head a little bit. This can help you get the water out of your ear. Also in summer, when the sun is shining, wear some sunscreen (防晒霜) on your ears.
How to clean your ears
The earwax (耳屎) itself comes out of the ear along with some dirt. Don't clean your ears with anything sharp, or it can make the earwax go too deep into your ears and hurt them. But if your ears start to hurt, you can go to a doctor for help.
How to use headphones
Don't listen to loud music on your headphones for a long time. Over-the-ear headphones (头戴式耳机) are better than in-ear ones.
A. They do a better job of stopping outside noise so you can listen at a lower volume. B. But we usually forget another important part of our body, the ears. C. Dry your ears after swimming or taking a shower. D. Usually, our ears clean themselves. E. In winter, protect your ears with a hat or a scarf. |
