Dear Miss Yu,
I'm Linda. I'm writing this letter because I want to tell you that the school year I spent with you was special to me.
I used to be very shy and quiet. You never said much to me. But you did something that made a big difference to my life.
In the past, I hated English. I didn't think it was interesting. And my English was very poor. In Grade 9, you became my English teacher. You always made your classes lively and interesting. I found it easy to remember what you taught us. Once I was asked to introduce myself in English. Because of my poor English, I 'didn't do it well. And I felt very bad. To my surprise, you didn't say anything bad but told me if I worked hard on my pronunciation, I would do better. Your encouragement changed me a lot. From then on, I began to study English very hard.
Now, I enjoy studying English. My dream is to become an English teacher. I want to help students study English like you.
Yours,
Linda

Mary is a Grade 9 student. She doesn't have good looks and she is short and heavy. Because of that, she used to be unhappy. But after going to a place, she now doesn't feel that way. Where did she go?
Last Saturday, Mary visited an old people's home with her mother. She had fun there.
An old woman sat in a chair in the hallway. One of her slippers dropped. Mary picked it up and said, "Grandma, let me help you put it back on your foot. "Thank you, my girl. You are so beautiful," the old woman said to Mary.
Then Mary met an old man with no legs, and he said hi to Mary. Mary stopped to talk with him.-She listened to him telling his stories. Mary didn't think the stories were funny, but she smiled all the time. "Thanks for listening my girl. You are so beautiful, "the old man said to Mary
The old woman and man said Mary, was beautiful. This made Mary happy. She didn't do any special things in the old people's home, but she felt she got something special.
Give your love to others, and you will feel you are born to sparkle(自带光芒)
Five years ago, my parents bought small house in the countryside. We used to drive three hours to get to the house every Friday evening for holidays.
During the weekdays my parents worked hard. My two brothers and I went to expensive private schools. We hardly saw each other. We had several babysitters(临时保姆) as my parents had to work long hours. The only time we could be together was the weekend, and that was my happiest time. However, every Sunday morning was torture because we had to leave the holiday house then.
Last year, my parents sold our big house and gave up their jobs. They bought a smaller car. We now live in our holiday house. My parents got new jobs that allow them to work from home.
The best change for me is that now I go to a small village school with my brothers. After school we get on our bikes and ride around to see our friends. My life is just so different. We have fewer things but for me it seems like we have so much more. I am so glad we have changed our way of life.
