In a history class, our teacher, Mrs. Bartlett asked us to make a poster in groups about the culture that we were studying. She told us to write the names of three friends who we wanted to be in one group and she would think about our1.
The next day, the teacher told me to be in a group I would2want – the boy who was too weak in English, and the two girls who wore strange clothes. Oh, how I wanted to be with my3!With tears in my eyes, I walked up to Mrs. Bartlett. She 4me and seemed to know what I was there for. I told her I should be in the "good" group. She gently5 a hand on my shoulder. "I know what you want, Karma," she said, "but your group needs you. I need you to help them. Only you can help them." I was6and moved. Her words encouraged me.
"Will you help them?" she asked. "Yes," I replied. Then I7walked over to my group. I sat down and we started. Each of us did a part according to(根据) our interests. Halfway through the week, I felt8enjoying our group. We did a good job together.9 but Mrs. Bartlett believed in our group. Amazingly, our group got an A. But I think we should hand the A back to Mrs. Bartlett. She was the one who should truly10it. Mrs. Bartlett brought out the potential (潜能) in four of her students.

Dear sir,
Good day! I'm a junior in a university-- I'm of medium build. I'm quite healthy and strong. I like playing sports. I want to be a pilot, because my cousin is a pilot and he is great. He is cool when he wears pilot uniform. If I become a pilot, my parents will be proud of me. If I become a pilot, I can travel around the world. If I have a chance to become a pilot, I will have a great time flying in the blue sky. I believe I can be a good pilot. The problem is that my parents can't afford my dream. You know, to be a pilot needs a lot of money. My parents are both workers. They don't have much money. Could you help me find a sponsor(资助者), sir? And how can I get a scholarship(奖学金)?
I am looking forward to your help, sir. If you have time, you can email me at Jonathan@163.com. Your help will mean a lot to me, sir.
Once again good day and thank you.
Yours,
Jonathan
The Dragon Boat Festival is coming in June. Do you still remember the debate(辩论) between sweet and salty zongzi during Dragon Boat Festival? It seems that the differences between northerners and southerners have always been a popular topic among Chinese. Now another difference gets wide attention(关注): The way northerners and southerners shop for food at markets.
People from southern China might say they like to buy what they need for just one or two meals. It is normal for them to buy just half a Chinese cabbage, two potatoes and 0.25 kilograms of beef at a time.
However, if he does this in the north, other people will laugh at him. Instead, buying vegetables and meat enough for a week is usual, reported China Daily.
Also, when you go to the market in the south, you can buy a small amount of fruit, such as an apple or pear. Shop owners even help you peel and cut them. But hardly do shop owners in the north offer such service.
The difference could be because of the different climate(气候). Food can be kept for a long time in the north, as it is usually cold and dry there. Many northerners have the habit of stocking up (囤货) on food. But because of the hot and wet weather in the south, southern Chinese enjoy buying just enough food for one meal or one day, or the food may go bad.
Maybe these debates about differences help us Chinese know more about each other.
In a small town lived an old man named Mr. Benson. He lived alone. He had a big scar(疤痕) on his face and that made him look a little scary. No one in the neighborhood talked to him.
One day, a new family moved into the neighborhood. They were Mr. and Mrs. Green, and their children, Ann and Dave.
The other people who lived in the neighborhood welcomed the new family. They said hello to the Green family, but they told them not to talk to Mr. Benson. "He is a scary old man. He has no friends and he has a strange scar."
Ann, Dave and their parents thought that was very silly advice. Whenever they saw Mr. Benson, they always said hello to him. Mr. and Mrs. Green always helped Mr. Benson carry heavy things. Ann and Dave liked to sit and drink tea with Mr. Benson. He told them wonderful stories. He was once a very famous cook, and he made the most delicious desserts in the world.
One evening, all the neighbors in the neighborhood heard laughter and the sounds of cups and plates in Mr. Benson's house. It sounded like a happy dinner. They were astonished.
The next day, Mrs. Green said to his neighbors, "You really must get to know Mr. Benson. He is so funny and he is a fantastic cook. He told us the story of his scar. He had an accident when he was helping his parents on their farm." The neighbors all felt sorry. They all started to follow the example the Green family set to them.
①Do you have the experience in visiting some top universities at home or abroad and do you enjoy it? Which university would you like to visit most this summer vacation?
②It's reported that before the COVID-19 epidemic, lots of tourists from across the country traveled to famous universities like Tsinghua University, Peking University and Fudan University every winter and summer vacation. Tsinghua University, for example, received at least 6,000 visitors a day, reported China Youth Daily. Most of them were middle school students with their parents.
③Before the time when the epidemic broke out, it took many hours to get into the universities because the number of visitors was getting larger and larger. "Tsinghua University opens to the public at 8:30 am," a guard (保安) once told China Youth Daily. "However, many people start to line up at 3 to 4 am because people who come at 6 o'clock may be too late and can only enter in the afternoon."
④This is not only for Chinese universities. Oxford in Britain and Harvard in the United States are facing the same problem. In summer, Oxford was full of tour buses, which were parked illegally (违规), according to The Independent. The pavements (人行道) were also full of tourists.
⑤"University tourism" is popular because of the long histories and special cultures of these famous universities. More importantly, many parents hope their children will go into a top university in the future, noted People's Daily.
⑥"I brought my son here to see what top universities look like," a mother of a 14-year-old boy told China Daily. She hoped her son could learn something from the trip and study harder after that.

Have you ever dreamt of using magic to change the world, like making another New York City with your mind? The movie Doctor Strange (《奇异博士》) might show you what it is like!
Doctor Strange was proud of his job and famous to many people. However, a car accident badly hurt his hands and made him unable to do his work again. Doctor Strange hoped to fix his hands, so he traveled around the world and met Ancient One, a magician. Ancient One taught him the magic and kung fu. After training for a year, Doctor Strange learned new abilities to help save lives. But not all students of Ancient One were good. One student, Kaecilius, fell into the darkness and tried to get dark power from another world. As the only man who could fight against him, Doctor Strange must stop him to save the world.
Doctor Strange can travel anywhere in seconds and go through different worlds. He can also reshape things with his own wish. However, the most amazing thing about Doctor Strange is the power of changing time. With its help, Doctor Strange is able to save all people in a city even if they are killed by Kaecilius.
To show Doctor Strange's power, the movie-making team worked really hard. It's said that Kaecilius destroyed a 180-meter-long busy street in Hong Kong. The team used 350 tons of rocks to make it happen.
