The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers trails (路线) for all skill levels and we've pulled together a list of some of the easier hiking trails that are perfect for kids.

    Gatlinburg Trail

The Gatlinburg Trail is easy to get to and perfect for a first time hiking experience. Pets and bikes are allowed on this one too. The trail is relatively flat and follows along the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River for about 2 miles, so the roundtrip length is just 3.9 miles. Hike at your own pace and enjoy!

    Porters Creek Trail

The Porters Creek trailhead is located in Greenbrier Cove. The trail makes a great hike any time of the year due to its lower elevation (海拔). As you make your way along the hiking trail from the parking lot to Porters Flat, you'll see remains of the Elbert Cantrell farmhouse, Ownby Cemetery, the John Messer farm site and more. And if you happen to visit during the spring season, be on the lookout for all the beautiful spring wildflowers beginning to bloom. The roundtrip length is 4 miles.

    Laurel Falls

The Laurel Falls trail is 2.3 miles round trip and considered to be one of the best waterfall hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains! Laurel Falls Trail is paved but rocky and uneven, and there are a few steep drop-offs as you get closer to the falls, so wear appropriate shoes and keep small children close.

    Andrew's Bald Hiking Trail

Andrew's Bald Hiking Trail is 1. 8 miles each way and relatively easy to negotiate. You may find patches of wild berries and beautiful wildflowers but best of all, some amazing views of the Great Smoky Mountains. It's also a great spot to stop and enjoy a picnic with the family.

2012 was one of the hardest years I have ever known because I lost my husband. For sea-eras months, I found it hard to write, think, eat or take pleasure in anything; I could not imagine what it would be like to feel happy again; I could not find any hope or purpose.

I cannot remember the reason why one Monday morning I decided to go to a hot yoga studio in east London, where I signed up for a 3 O-day trial. I do not remember the class or how much I sweated. What I do know is that I started going to hot yoga every day, Sometimes, when my head felt as if it might collapse (崩溃), I went twice a day. I skipped parties, left social events and got up early to attend. There was something about the hot room that held me together, stopping all the dark thoughts inside my mind.

I chose the Bikram method of hot yoga: It has a set of 26 postured and two breathing exercises performed in heat over a period of 90 minutes. This form of yoga was founded by Bikram Choudhury. In 2015, he failed in an attempt to copyright (取得版权) his method. Many practitioners (从业人员) believe that Bikram is not real yoga. Some question the limita-lions of just 26 postured. Others wonder why the class has to be performed before a wall of mirrors. However, something in those 26 postured freed my mind, dragged me out of my thoughts and back into the present. I was able to focus on how my body behaved differently each day.

A . She succeeded in writing. B . She tried to find hope again. C . She gave up her yoga classes. D . She fell into deep depression.

    3. (3) How did yoga help the author?
A . It helped her make money. B . It helped her feel more focused. C . at helped her get to know its founder. D . It helped her practice her performance skills.
    4. (4) Where is this text most likely from?
      A . A health magazine. B . A travel brochure. C . A research paper. D . Science fiction.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines awe as a feeling of religious respect mixed with fear or wonder. Now a research, done by teams from the University of California Berkeley and UC Irvine, found that experiencing awe might make people help each other out more.

"Our investigation indicates that awe serves a vital social function." said Paul Piff, an assistant professor of psychology and social behavior at UC Irvine. "By decreasing the emphasis on the individual self, awe may encourage people to give up strict self-interest to improve the well-being of others."

After showing participants images of nature, Piff and his team asked questions. The researchers measured moral behavior. And they measured generosity. Those who reported feeling a sense of awe showed more moral behavior.

Awe is defined partly by the fear one feels in the face of something larger than themselves. In fact, the same generous behavior was observed in people who were shown scenes of natural disasters. According to Hoffman, whether it was watching scenes of the Amazonian rainforest or a violent volcanic eruption, participants were more willing to share resources with each other afterwards.

Awe doesn't just inspire moral behavior. Recent studies suggest that experiencing awe may promote your immune system. And it could make you feel more creative, too. It can even make you feel that you have more time to get things done.

"When people experience awe, they really want to share that experience with other people, suggesting that it has this particularly great part much like virus." Piff tells Hoffman. "Maybe this is another way that awe binds people together—by causing people to want to share their positive experiences collectively with one another."

    1. (1) What is the purpose of paragraph 1?
A . To stress the function of awe. B . To show the application of awe. C . To introduce a finding of awe. D . To state the importance of awe.
    2. (2) What may Piff agree with?
A . Awe helps people to be generous. B . Awe raises one's social position. C . Awe allows one to grow stronger. D . Awe enables one to be successful.
    3. (3) Why is awe compared to virus in the last paragraph?
A . It has an internal principle. B . It has an influential power. C . It has a widespread flavour. D . It has a distinct limitation.
    4. (4) What can be the suitable title for the passage?
A . The Origins of Awe B . The Varieties of Awe C . The Changes of Awe D . The Advantages of Awe
