After watching the grand sunrise, set out to explore Angkor Wat on a guided walking tour and listen as your guide points out attractive architectural features and details the fascinating history of the Khmer Empire.
Angkor Thom and the Bayon Temple
Angkor Thom is a smaller site than Angkor Wat but no less impressive, especially the Bayon Temple, which is famous for all the great stone towers with their mysterious smiling heads. The artistry is quite unique and truly a wonder of the world. The temples are better preserved and more interesting than those at Angkor-picturing details of people's everyday life, rather than just battle scenes.

Defeating her Russian competitor with the last shot. Yang Qian, 21, won the first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday in the women's 10-meter air rifle.
The junior student from Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, who is studying at the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, became an immediate hit at home thanks to the calmness and confidence she has displayed.
It was Yang that drew the nation's attention to the Games, which have been delayed from last year due to the COVID-19. Although wearing a mask, her smiling eyes and the gesture she made on the podium, forming the shape of a heart with her arms, have touched audiences around the world.
For too long, the world has longed for such a moment when countries can come together. The openness, courage and self-control Yang showed during and after the event have proved to be a common language.
With her baby face and fashionable appearance, and her enthusiasm for her sport, Yang has shown young people that the Olympic Games is not only an opportunity to win honor for the nation, but also a personal stage for the athletes to enjoy themselves, show their skills, display their personal charm, and actively interact with audiences.
Compared with the predecessors, the young Chinese athletes are more likely to enjoy the moment with smiles instead of tears. And while most Chinese Olympic gold winners of the last generation regarded winning as a reward for their countless hours of practice, the young athletes tend to view winning as a new beginning rather than the end of their sporting journey.
Competing for the country and enjoying it for oneself in the Games will attract more young people to enjoy sports, and doing so can also bring more honor to the motherland.
William had worked hard to pass the exams to enter high school. When the term began, however, his father told him that there was no money to pay for his school fees because of the summer drought. Still, William wanted to learn.
He made the village library his school. One day, he found a book called Using Energy. On the book's cover was a picture of windmills, tall steel towers with blades (叶片) spinning like giant fans. He learned that wind—something of which his hometown had plenty—could produce electricity.
He couldn't help picturing his own windmill in mind, but collecting the parts and tools he needed would take months. In a junkyard, he dug through piles of used metal, old cars, and worn-out tractors, searching for anything that might help him construct his machine. He made four-foot-long blades from plastic pipe, which he melted over a fire, flattened out, and hardened with bamboo poles.
Earning some money, he paid a blacksmith to attach the piston (活塞) to the pedal sprocket (踏板链轮) of an old bicycle frame. This would be the axle (轮轴) of the windmill. When the wind blew, the spinning blades would turn the bicycle wheel and spin a small dynamo (发电机), donated by his friend.
When he had collected all the parts, William began putting them together. He fixed the blades to the tractor fan he found, using washers (垫圈) he'd made from bottle caps. Next he pushed the fan onto the piston joint to the bicycle frame. With the help of his two best friends, William built a 16-foot-tall tower from trunks of trees and lifted the ninety-pound windmill to the top.
The big moments eventually came. He climbed up the tower and connected two wires that held a small bulb. As the wind whipped around him, the blades began to turn, slowly at first, then faster and faster. The light bulb flickered (闪烁), then flashed to life. The crowd cheered from below. "Wachitabwina (well done)!"
William's machine now powered his house. And the story of the boy who'd built a power-generating windmill to rescue his family from the drought spread across the Internet.
People who have red hair and people who are losing their hair could finally get their own emoji(表情符号). The Emojipedia website has shown new emojis following demands that they should be more diverse. If its ideas are approved, the new emojis could be added in 2018, alongside new characters that have grey, curly or Afro hair.
"New styles focus on appearances that aren't currently supported in the informal skin tone and hair color pairings(组合) used on many cellphones," showed one page on the website. The page gave Jessica Chastain and Ed Sheeran as examples of people with red hair. Sinead O'Connor and Samuel L Kackson were given as examples of people with no hair or a shaven head.
The emojis could be released in 2018 if chosen by the Unicode Consortium which met in January, 2017 following a number of complaints about lack of diversity. "Non-naturally occurring features, such as blue hair and tattoos, are not included in this project," the website added.
At the end of 2016, Apple published its iOS 10.2 software update which included 72 new emojis such as firefighters, astronauts, rockstars and so on. But people who have red hair were notably absent, causing a global protest.
A website in Scotland demanding ginger emojis got 20,000 signatures. The main issue is that there is one organization, known as Unicode Consortium, who controls emojis on iPhone.
In March, a new list of emojis was published by Emojipedia which might be released later this year. However, the emojis need to be approved by the Unicode Technical Committee before people can use them.
In 2015, ginger emojis were published on the Google Play Store for Android. But up until now, the Unicode Consortium has not been willing to give in to ginger campaigners.

The three-minute workout is the4 way to start the day, says Yukihide, a 79-year-old retired businessman who has 5 the routine nearly every day for a decade. "The exercises aren't that6 and afterwards you feel like your body has7 woken up."

The Jiangsu countryside stretching between the cities of Suzhou and Shanghai is home to a lot of small beautiful water towns, many of which (locate) along the Grand Canal, an artificial canal connecting Hangzhou to Beijing.
One of these towns is Tongli, which is (easy) accessible to tourists from the nearby city of Suzhou. (build) in the Song Dynasty, the town offers pleasant views and landscapes of traditional China, characterized by fascinating canals crossed by arch bridges and whitewashed houses overlook the water.
Walking along the narrow alleys (巷), you can admire number of well-preserved traditional houses, temples and gardens. Tongli is home to a great many souvenir shops and local (product), but what amazed me was how well the town is preserved except being open to tourism: a good balance between commercial activities and local life. So in spite of (it) popularity, Tongli maintains giving people a quiet and laid—back feeling, (make) it an ideal destination for visitors who seek peace and leisure.
I (take) scores of pictures while touring Tongli, which I hope may inspire travelers to add this pretty water town their trips. My impression of Tongli is so positive that I've been meaning to go back with my family for their first visit to China.

One warm, sunny morning, Marsha jumped right out of bed.
Today was the first day of summer vacation and also the last day she'd be spending with Tanya, her very best friend. Tanya was going to camp in another state. She'd be gone all summer. Marsha and Tanya always spent their summers together. This one would be no fun without her!
Marsha's mom came in." What's the matter, Rabbit?" she said.
"I miss Tanya already. Isn't that silly?" Marsha said.
"No," her mother said softly." Missing a best friend isn't silly at all." Marsha's eyes were wet.
"I know how you feel." "You do?" asked Marsha. Marsha's mom nodded." I had a best friend when I was your age. And she went away to camp, too." "I felt pretty sad," Marsha's mom said. "I wanted my best friend to think about me. So I gave her something." "What?" asked Marsha." I gave her my best necklace," her mom said.
"You did?" asked Marsha." Well, I wanted her to have it," Marsha's mom said," Maybe you could give Tanya one of your favorite things to take to camp. How about a doll? Then she will never forget that you are her best friend." Marsha wiped her eyes." Mom, that's a great idea!" she said.
"Are you going to give Tanya your Glenda Glitter doll?" said Marsha's mom." Yes, Mom," she said." This is the one I want her to have. But now I'm going to get Glenda all nice and clean." Soon, Glenda Glitter looked just like new.
Next it was time to dress the doll. Marsha ran to her room. In a flash she was back. Her hands were full of doll's dresses. "This is the one I like best," she said." And I know Tanya likes it best, too."
"Let's see. I think I can fix this little rip(口子)." Marsha's mom was good at fixing things. The doll dress soon looked good as new.
"Look, Mom!" she said. "Glenda looks beautiful."
"You know, Kitten," said Marsha's mom, "Tanya will like this present so much." "Tanya will be leaving soon," she said." We better hurry up." Marsha and her mom walked over to Tanya's house. They rang the bell.
