Every evening before my elder sister Anna and I went to sleep, we would spend five minutes having a dance party. No matter what went on that day or how mad we were at each other, we would dance. It was a 1 my dad helped start when we were little.
One day, Anna and I had a huge argument on 2 would play with a doll. Before bedtime, we were still angry with each other. Our dad 3 the music.
"For a full five minutes. No talking. Just 4 ," he said.
He played the music until we both agreed to start dancing. After the five minutes were over, we were laughing so hard that both of us 5 why we were angry.
Since that night, and up until recently, our five-minute dance party was 6 we returned to every evening.
Now Anna and I sat with Mom and Dad at the dinner table. It was the night 7 Anna moved to attend college. Mom made Anna's favorite meal. I was 8 to think this would be the last time we all ate together. But Anna ate9. "I want to go and say bye to my friend Jeanie!" she explained.
Looking at the empty chair, I realized how much I 10 those nightly dance parties with my sister. I couldn't shake the feeling of how upset I would be 11 we didn't have one last dance party.
Some hours passed, and I began to get ready for bed, giving up on the thought that our last dance party would 12. Suddenly I heard a knock on my door.
"Are you still up?"
"Yes. What are you doing?"
Anna came in. "Julie, you didn't seriously think I was going to leave tomorrow 13 us dancing one more time, did you?"
Anna played the music and started dancing. I followed 14 lead, laughing.
Though I disliked to think of my sister leaving, the fact that this last dance was as 15 to her as it was to me made the moment even more special.

Take a Trip Why not go on a virtual trip with your friends and the guest of honor on Woyago for a virtual going-away party? It might be an exciting trip to Italy, a relaxing trip to France, or a special holiday to Spain. Woyago does it all. What fun! |

Would You Rather It's a great idea to plan a game of Would You Rather online with your friends at the party. The idea is to choose between two choices and see how many of your friends end up choosing the same thing. You can prepare more interesting questions to double the fun. |

It was a warm winter's day in South Africa and I planned to go surfing. The area of beach I went to is famous among surfers for its powerful waves and popularity with sharks.
After a while my brother and some of my friends got out of the water because they felt uneasy. There was the smell of fish in the air, which can attract sharks. A few of us stayed. Finally, I saw my first big wave, but as I was about to hit it, two great white sharks attacked(攻击) me.
It happened so quickly. One shark hit me, throwing me into the air; in a split second, it dragged me under the water. The shock stopped me from feeling pain. Under the water, another shark went for my head and shoulders but missed.
Perhaps surprised by the competition, the first shark lost its grip on me and the next thing I knew was that I was staring a shark straight in the face. It stared back at me for a few moments. Its mouth was wide open; I could see huge teeth and dark black eyes. After it passed, I swam to the surface as fast as I could.
When I got there, I saw my surfboard lying in front of me. As I climbed on, I saw that my right hand was hanging off. I was losing blood quickly. When surfing, there is always the fear in the back of your mind of sharks. Now it was real. I was shaking, crying and panicking, realizing that I could die. I tried all my hardest to surf back to the shore(岸).
Eventually, I made it to dry land. I felt relief. Someone tied my arm to slow the bleeding and my brother rushed me to the hospital. The doctor managed to save my fingers.
That day changed my life, but it hasn't stopped me from surfing. I started a surfing school to teach the sport to others. I was more afraid of sharks before my attack. Now I'm just grateful to be alive.
This high school term was supposed to be easier. That is the thought in my mind—after all, this is the first term that I'm taking less than 20 credits(学分 ), and I'm enjoying all of my classes. However, this term has felt the most difficult and my grades are much worse than they were when I was taking two more classes.
I could blame(怪罪) it on the fact that I've been busy working in several school clubs and practicing for a school musical several times a week. Actually, it is important that I don't overlook(忽视) that because it wouldn't be fair to myself to say it doesn't play a part in my low grades. However, it's clearly not the only reason. In fact, study has never been easy for me.
I thought that putting in more effort would change things, but it hasn't. The exam I studied for hours on comes back a failure. I fall asleep while working on homework and forget to hand it in. I sit in class taking lots of notes, and when I look back at them to do my homework, it all reads as gibberish. I start to realize that maybe some of the work I do is just hard.
I'm learning that it's okay not to be the best at the work that you do. When you're used to being naturally good, it's hard to realize that throwing the same amount(数量) of effort at something that is more difficult won't just automatically(自动地) work. However, we shouldn't feel bad about that. Even though we're here for learning, there are so many things to spend our time on. I think of the things I want as all having a price, and the amount that I would like to pay at any given time changes, as does the price. It's not to say that you should stop working hard, but it's good to keep in mind that sometimes the price just might be too high for you at a given time.
You don't have to do everything perfectly, even if it looks easy, and you're allowed to deal with knowledge that just doesn't make sense to you. This is the time to learn how to keep on keeping on. We will be the best of ourselves once we learn that being our best isn't a precondition to learning.
Type in "A cat wants to go to space" and ask the robot to write a bedtime story. Just one second later, you'll get the story of Max, who clawed his way past many difficulties to sing among the stars.
This robot writer is real. It's called ChatGPT. US company OpenAI developed it to generate (生成) human-like texts. It can translate languages, talk with people and write songs, poems and even jokes. It's one of the most powerful AI of its kind, with the complete writing range (范围) of a real person!
People around the world have tried ChatGPT and posted their results on social media. Some used it to write history essays (论文), some asked it to take notes of presentations, and some even generated advice on how to interact (互动) with people at a party, reported The Atlantic.
The power of ChatGPT lies in its high speed and understanding of complicated matters. We may spend hours researching, understanding and writing an article on the theory of evolution (进化论). But ChatGPT can produce a well-written one in seconds. Another good thing about it is that if you ask dark, harmful questions, such as how to make guns, it will not give you an answer.
ChatGPT comes along at a time when AI is becoming increasingly able to do creative tasks. The materials they create are difficult to tell from those made by humans. This causes many ethical (道德的) issues, such as the issue of copyright and the definition (定义) of art. Since the system is largely trained using words from the internet, it can also pick up on the internet's biases (偏见) and stereotypes (刻板印象) about certain groups. These are all the things that depend on humans to solve.

"My wallet! Where is it?" were my first words when I found my wallet was missing. I searched my memory for a few good seconds, then (认识到) that I had left my precious wallet in the library's public restroom!

I wondered what I would do if I had found a wallet with (六十) dollars, a phone card and other irreplaceable personal things. Finally, I (痛苦)accepted the fact that my wallet was gone.
A week (之后), I received a package in the mail. It was my wallet! And most surprisingly, nothing was missing! But there was a letter folded up in one of the wallet pocket that had not been there before. I slowly unfolded the letter which (表达) something like this:
When we continue to help people (周围), we will live in a larger and more rewarding world.
From that day on, I promised myself that I will follow this example and help others and make them as delighted as I was when I opened that package!

a summer morning in 2007, Christoph and Barbara were walking through a forest in Romania's Piatra Craiului National Park. It should be home to many of Europe's rarest animals. However, they noticed destruction (take) place around them. The illegal cutting left few trees and plants. As a result, there were fewer birds and animals.

"If you care for nature and the conservation of our environment, you cannot destroy such scenes (cruel)." That day in the forest was a life-changing moment for the couple.
