When I was in middle school, I was bullied (欺负)a lot. There was one boy, let's call him C, who was the main person 1 . Every day, for many years, he would say mean things to me and 2 me with his words. It was 3 time in my life, and I felt like there was no way of running away from it.
Years passed, and I left 4 . I had no idea what happened to C, and I didn't 5 . I just wanted to move on with my life and forget about what happened.
One day, when I was twenty-six years old, I was walking to the supermarket. Suddenly, I saw C. I couldn't believe it. He 6 at me, trying to find out who I was. Then, he asked me if I was who he thought I was. I told him that I was 7 who he thought I was.
To my surprise, C 8 . It was the most honest and heartfelt apology I had ever heard. He didn't have to say anything. He could have just behaved in a way that he didn't 9 me and walked away. But he stopped me and apologized. I could hear the 10 in his voice for what he had done to me in the past. At that moment, I 11 him right away. All the hatred (憎恨)and 12 I had carried for years was gone in a 13 . I was a completely 14 and life-changing moment for me. That experience gave me a 15 in the goodness of people and made the rest of my day truly amazing.

Chen Zhou gives popular inspirational (激励的) speeches around the world. He talks about his journey visiting over 700 of China's cities and climbing over 100 mountains. It's an impressive thing for anyone, but even more so when you know that Chen doesn't have any legs. He gets around and climbs mountains with his hands in wooden boxes.
After his parents' divorce (离婚) when he was little, Chen was raised by his grandparents. They were very poor and from a young age, Chen would go out to find ways to make money. One day, while riding a train he realized he was going in the wrong direction and jumped of the train. Chen's legs were cut off. He was just 13.
Chen started to sing in the street. It was there that he met the woman who would become his wife. Ability Magazine reported that she asked him "Do you need any help after you finish singing?" From then on, the two began to see each other every day and feel for each other. On the 10th anniversary (周年) of their wedding (婚礼), they climbed China's Five Sacred Mountains together.
Chen has become a true inspiration for people. In 2016 he encouraged the then-11-year-old, Gao Zhiyu to climb mountains. Like Chen, Gao also lost his legs in a terrible accident. Chen invited Gao to climb Laoshan Mountain with him after hearing his story. Gao lost his legs in a car accident and was out of school for four years, doing his schoolwork in the hospital. Before this, Gao had never climbed a mountain. But together they climbed a summit (顶峰) 900 meters high. Chen really shows the power of the human spirit!
Thousands of runners tied their running shoes and rushed out from the starting line while crowds cheered along the course. Marathons (马拉松) in China are getting popular again.
According to the Chinese Athletics Association, a total of 133 marathons across the country have been registered (注册) for the first six months of the year. On March 26, more than 300,000 runners took part in 26 marathon races nationwide, reported China Daily.
Teenagers have also taken part in marathons. Xu Qian, a 15-year-old from Suqian, Jiangsu, loves running. He got first place in the 5-kilometer Happy Run of the Jingdong Suqian Marathon held on April 2. For Xu, the race meant months of training and preparation. He ran about 30 to 40 kilometers in local stadiums each week ahead of the run.
"Unlike the 800-meter run at school which is more about speed, a marathon tests a runner's endurance (耐力) and psychological quality (心理素质)," he told Teens.
When he felt tired during the race, he told himself not to give up. "In long distance running, the only opponent you have to beat is yourself," Xu added.
Apart from one's willpower, kindness from the crowds also plays a big part in helping runners get to the finish line. Li Zhouzi from Shanxi took part in a 3-kilometer Kid Run of the Berlin Marathon in Germany in 2019 when she was 10. The cheers from the people along the course really encouraged her.
"When things were hard, people from across the world cheered me on. Even if it was just the words, ‘keep it up', it meant a lot to me and enabled me to keep going to the end," Li told Teens.
She believes that running a marathon is about focusing on the final goal, not the suffering along the way. "Similarly, our life is also a marathon," Li said.
Recently, researchers in Israel have done an experiment and found that goldfish are able to navigate(导航) on land after receiving around 10 driving lessons.
The experiment was performed by a research team at the Ben-Gurion University. It was made to see whether goldfish could find their way in a very different environment. Researchers developed a robotic car that could drive forward, backward and from side to side. They called the car FOV—"Fish Operated Vehicle"(鱼驱动车). A goldfish was placed inside a water box on the FOV. Using a set of wheels with a camera system, the FOV recorded the fish's movements and swimming directions, and then moved in the same direction.
The scientists worked with six different goldfish. They placed the car in a small room with a pink target(目标) on one side. The fish would get food when the car touched the target. After a few days of training, the fish navigated to the target. At first, it took them about half an hour to drive to the target. But by the end of the experiment, they were able to complete the same task in less than a minute. Shachar Givon, one of the researchers, said, "As anyone who has tried to learn how to ride a bike or to drive a car knows, it is challenging at first."
Not only did the goldfish show that they could drive to the target, but they also weren't fooled by false targets of other colors. They were also able to get free when the car hit a wall. Although the fish may not have realized they were moving on land, these results show that a fish has the ability to navigate outside its nature environment of water. It can enrich scientific knowledge of animals' navigation skills.
Do you have a sleep problem? You may need to see more sunlight, especially in the morning, according to a study.
A team of researchers from New York, US did the study, reported Yahoo News. The team did a study on 109 office workers across the US. Some of the workers saw lots of light during the morning hours, between 8 a.m. and lunchtime. They also fell asleep more quickly at night.
Researchers say it helps us set our "body clock". When there is less and less sunlight at the end of the day, our body starts to make melatonin (褪黑素). It makes us feel sleepy so that we know it's time to go to bed. But during the day, sunlight tells our body to make less melatonin so that we can stay awake and do our work.
Researchers suggest that we should see 15 minutes of sunlight in the morning.
A. Why is sunlight so important to our sleep?

For thousands of years, bamboo inspired artists to create works of art. In the hands of artisans (手艺人), bamboo can into beautiful objects.
Wuyi Mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage (遗产) Site that is near Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, and bamboo grows there. After work, you go back home, open an app, place your order, and wait for your food to be delivered (送递) to your home. (1)This shows how many young people eat in China these days. According to a latest report, 421 million Chinese people use online food delivery services.
Which group of people is ordering food online the most? For sure, it is mainly young people.
A recent report by Meituan, a food delivery service, showed that 86.3% of the service's users are between 20 and 34 years old. (2)These people are the main group that is driving the development of the food delivery industry.
Small families depend largely on food delivery services. (3)Chinese families have changed in size over the past ten years. In 2002, only 7.7% of families have only one person. But this number increased to 15.6% in 2017. Two-person families rose from 18.4% in 2002 to 27.2% in 2017. These days, short videos and live streaming (网络直播)have gotten millions of views online. More and more people create and share short videos on popular apps like Douyin and Kuaishou to show parts of their lives.
Using live streaming is popular among the people aged 18 to 35. Even the teachers give lessons by live streaming. Besides leaving reviews on the screen, viewers can also communicate directly with the hosts by buying virtual(虚拟的)gifts such as flowers, toys and cars for them online. The most recent famous example was the Olympic swimmer Fu Yuanhui. She did one-hour live streaming which reached more than 11 million viewers.
What's more, live streaming allows users to communicate with strangers and express themselves. A 19-year-old college student called Nic Li says she spends three to four hours each week chatting and singing with viewers through one app called Ingkee. "Sometimes I feel lonely and want to talk to people," she says, "I feel nice when viewers are paying attention to me."
However, as there are more than 80 apps and 300 websites for live streaming in China, the Internet regulator(监管机构)almost can't monitor the content(内容)all the time.
"We support the use of live streaming. But people should be aware of the two sides of it," one of the officials said.
