Two men are walking in the park. One is Jack, a worker. The other is Henry. Jack is going to a chair. It is next to the street. Henry is after him. Jack finds Henry walking after him. He walks faster, because he wants to get to the chair before Henry. Now Henry begins to run because he also wants to get to the chair first. Then he gets to the chair first and sits down on it. When Jack gets to the chair, he sees Henry sitting on it. He is sorry to show a notice with the words "Wet Paint" to Henry. Now Henry knows why Jack is going to the chair.
Mr. Hunt's family is very poor. Because of that, he is in school for only three years and he has to stop to help his parents though (尽管) he is good at his lessons. When he is sixteen, he comes to the city and begins to work in a small factory. He learns from an old worker and six years later, he becomes a good worker. The old worker likes him and marries (嫁) his daughter to him. The young man does not have a house so he has to live with his parents-in-law (岳父母). His mother-in-law always thinks he isn't rich and often chatters (唠叨).
It is one fine Sunday. The old woman wants to have a trip on the top of the hill. She tells Mr. Hunt to drive her car. But sometimes she tells him to turn left (左转) and sometimes to turn right. The young man has to listen to her. At a crossing, the lights turn red but she makes him turn left. The policeman stops them.
"If I did wrong, sir," says Mr. Hunt, "It is my mother-in-law's fault (过错). She is driving the car though she sits behind me. "

"I can't find Jack," Mary says. "Our pet is lost."

Paul helps Mary look for Jack. Jack isn't under the yellow desks or the blue chairs. Mary goes to the brown bookcase.
"Oh, a brown lizard is on the book." Mary says.
"The lizard is not green. It's not mine. It's a new lizard." Paul says.
Mary says, "Let's put it into Jack's box."
Paul puts the brown lizard into the box with some green leaves(树叶). Oh, what do they see now? They see a green lizard. The brown lizard turns into(变成) a green one.

Robert Smith is my best friend. He is a 12-year-old boy. He likes sports very much and does well in sports.
One afternoon, he comes out of the classroom and sees his father waiting for him at the school gate. He is very glad and he runs to his father. "Dad, please don't wait for me after school next time. I can go home by myself. I have grown up to be a man." says Robert.
"Let's go," says the father, "I'll cook supper and you can do your homework at home. Mum is still at work."
On their way home, Robert sees some boys skating in a park. "Can I go and learn skating. Dad?" asks Robert.
"I'm sorry, my boy. You must go home and do your homework," answers his father, "but I can buy you an ice-cream." Then his father buys an ice-cream for him. When Robert wants to eat it, a fly(苍蝇) flies to the ice-cream.
"Drive off(赶走) the fly," says his father, "it's very dirty ."
But Robert says with a smile. "You don't let me skate, but can you let him skate for a while(一会儿)?"
Dale has a new baseball hat. It is from his sister Grace. The hat is blue and it is beautiful. Dale loves it. He wears(戴) it every day. When he doesn't wear it, he always puts it on his desk. This morning Dale wants to go and play baseball with his friends. He wants to wear the hat, but the hat is not on the desk. Where is it? Dale looks for it under the sofa, under the chair, in the schoolbag, just everywhere. But he can't find it.
"Do you see my hat?" Dale asks his family. No one sees it.
Dale is sad(伤心). He thinks his hat is lost. At that time, his dog Puppy comes. And the hat is on his head! He loves the hat, too.
Dale is very glad. He gets the hat and leaves(离开) home.
A man has four sheep. One is black, and the other three are white. The black sheep is friendly to the white sheep. But the white sheep don't like him. They think the black sheep is too ugly. And they don't like to play with him. The man doesn't like the black sheep, either. He often gives the bad grass to the black sheep.
The black sheep is very sad. He has no friends. And he has no good grass to eat.
One winter day, there is a big snow. And the snow is everywhere. Trees, grass and the ground are all white.
The man can't find his white sheep because the white sheep are too white. They are as white as snow. Suddenly, the man sees something black. He goes to it. Oh, it is his black sheep. And his white sheep are there too. The man is so happy to find them all.
From then on, the man gives the same good grass to the black sheep and the four sheep play happily. They all think black is a lucky color.
Bob Pearson is an old man. He has two big houses and a new car. He has no wife(妻子), but he is a father of four children. One son is from England. His name is Bill. The other son is from America. His name is Mike. One of his daughters is from China. Her name is Lanlan. The other one is from Japan. Her name is Mikou. Bob Pearson is not the children's real father, but he loves them very much. The kids love him, too. Bob Pearson has many toys for the kids. He gives (给) different toys to different kids. The boys play with toy cars. The girls play with dolls and toy animals. Bob Pearson is the kids' "father", and he is a good friend, too.
Tom likes strange things. One day he sees a very old strange mirror. He asks his parents to buy it from an old man. When Tom gets the mirror, he goes to see himself in it. He looks very upset in the mirror at first.
Tom feels surprised. Why does he look upset in the mirror? He goes to buy some chocolate to make himself happy. After eating chocolate he is happy, but he still looks upset in the mirror. He then buys all kinds of toys to play with. Nothing is different.
"The mirror is bad!" Tom puts it under the bed.
He then goes to the park to play. He sees that a little boy is crying there. Tom talks with the boy and knows that the boy can't find his parents. So Tom helps the boy find his parents. The parents thank Tom and take the boy back home.
When Tom gets home, he remembers the mirror. He takes it out and sees himself in the mirror again. This time he doesn't look upset. He looks so happy!
