Different people like to do different things. They also like to go to different places. 

Some studies find out the following interesting results. Quieter people like to go to quieter places like the bank(岸) of a lake or a library. And they also like to go to these places themselves. But the results of the studies can't tell us whether(是否) people go to quiet places because of their personality(性格).

Outgoing people like places with many people around like a park. And they like to go to these places with friends. In fact, the studies show that these people don't really care where they go. They just want to stay with people and talk.

However, things seem to be a little different for many young people. Today many of them just want to spend more time being at home than being outside. And there seem to be fewer outgoing young people. Some studies say this is because there's too much work or schoolwork for young people. Other studies say it's just harder for people to make friends these days.

What does global(全球的) warming bring to us? Drier land, melting ice, strange weather, and. . . less sleep! It found that people are losing 44 hours of sleep every year. And that's because of higher temperature（温度）. By the year 2100, people will lose about 50-58 hours of sleep a year.

Yes, temperature have something to do with our sleep. Did you ever find it hard to fall asleep on hot summer night? Our body temperature is around 37℃, but it drops by 2℃ at night. The drop starts about two hours before we go to sleep. During sleep, our body temperature keeps dropping. It gets a low point in the early morning. But when the weather is hot, the body will find it harder to cool down. That's why we can't get enough sleep.

As the saying goes, "A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures（疗法）in the doctor's book. " It's time to take action to save the earth(地球) as well as our sleep!

B: Haha. As a student, I don't want other things or people to bother(打扰) me.

A: I see. And you are not outgoing to perform(表演) in front of many people. 

B: Yeah. I need to think of ways to be shy so that more people can see my piano show in the future( 将来). 

Wang Yue is from Guangzhou. She to London last year with her parents. She found there were so many  between the two cities. It was  when Wang Yue first got to London. However, she saw quite a few people taking umbrellas with them. People in Guangzhou never do this on such a nice day. The next morning, Wang Yue  up early. She could hear birds  outside the window. Wang Yue and her parents  English food in a restaurant. None of them  the English food. They thought food in Guangzhou tasted much better. 

When Wang Yue started her  life in London, her English was not very good. She kept  with her new classmates and she kept a in English at night. That helped her a lot. Wang Yue loves her new school very much because there are so many interesting activities and different kinds of food for students, including (包括) Chinese food. 

Are you shy or outgoing?

Li Jun, a middle school boy, felt shy when he was making a speech a few days ago. Before the speech, Li thought it would be quite easy to speak in front of his classmates. But he found it was very different. He tried, but it was still too difficult to speak naturally. He said he just wanted to leave the classroom quickly. 

Li is not the only student feeling nervous when making a speech. They can talk about their ideas freely with their best friends after class, but can't speak in front of many people.

Zhou Hong is a middle school teacher. He thinks all schools should pay more attention(注意力) to speaking than writing. And students can join in any one they want. He also gives some advice( 建 议 ) to the students. Before a speech, it's necessary to practice more in free time. Then when speaking in front of many people, all you need is to take it easy. Third, just speak up your ideas clearly.

In China, we call those born (出生) after 2000 the "post-00s"generation (00 后). In English, young people born between the mid-1990s and 2010 have another name-Generation Z or Gen Z.

Thanks to social media (社交媒体), more people know about small problems, and only a small number of young people care about them. So, some people describe this generation as thinking little about others. However, Gen Z is, in fact, more grounded (踏实的) than people think. 

A study by Bank of America showed that over half of young people aged between 18 and 23 planned to buy a house in 5 years. "They are not just thinking about it,"said a work at Bank of America. "They are doing something about it. " To make their dream come true, Gen Z would choose to save for a down payment ( 首 付 ), not to go shopping or take a vacation.

This is not only in the United States. In Europe and Japan, Gen Z thinks a lot before buying things. They like to buy things they need more. That's because they saw the things their parents went through during the 2008 financial crisis (金融危机).

Social problems are also a center of worries for Gen Z. They think they are able to play a big role in making the world better. In India, young people choose a new leader who is able to help with most of their problems. "I went to the villages and saw how girls there lived. Keeping women safe is the most important for me. " said Monica Donald, 20, an Indian student.
