One day, I ran into a stranger as he passed by me. I said sorry to 1 immediately. He replied with a smile and said,"I'm sorry, 2 . I wasn't watching out for you."
Later that day, when I was cooking, my 3 was too close to me. When I turned to get 4 milk, I nearly knocked her over.
"Move out of the way!"I shouted.
She walked away 5 . But I didn't feel like I had to say sorry to her.
While I was in bed that night, my husband said to me",
While dealing with a stranger, you were6 , but with the daughter you love, you were unkind. Your daughter 7 you some flowers she picked herself. You'll find them in the kitchen by the door. Have you seen the tears 8 her eyes?"
I felt quite sorry for my lovely daughter. Then I went to her bedroom to tell her that I shouldn't have9 her. She kissed me on my cheek and said,"It's OK, mom. I love you anyway."
If we can be polite to strangers, 10 can't we do the same for the ones we love?
On a farm lived a father and a son. The father always got up early and read books by the stove. One morning, the son came up to him and said,"Dad, I read books at night but forget most of them the next morning. What's the good of reading?"
The father didn't reply to his question at once. He passed him a basket that was used to carry coal. He said,"Get some water from the river with the basket and then I'll tell you the answer."
The son felt surprised but he did as his father said, He tried many times but every time the water leaked(漏掉)from the basket.
An hour later, the son came back with the empty basket and told his father it was impossible to hold water with the basket. The father said with a smile."Yes, you are right, my son. The basket can't hold water. But did you notice the basket was different?". The son found the dirty basket had become
clean. The father continued,"Reading is like holding water with the basket. Although we can't remember all we read, we have changed while reading."
Maybe you are an average(一般的)student. You probably think you will never be a top student. However, anyone can become a better student if he or she does his or her best. Here are some tips to help you.
Plan your time carefully. You should plan your time for such things as eating, sleeping and dressing. Then make a good, regular time for studying. But don't forget to set enough time for entertainment.
Keep your study quiet and clean. The study should have a desk, a chair and some study materials(资料), but no games, no radio and no television! When you sit down to study, you can put your heart into it. Make good use of your time.
Listen to everything that the teacher says. Listening carefully in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.
After you get home from school, go over your notes. Review the important points. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss next day, read the material. It will help you study better.
Develop a good attitude(态 度)to tests. The purpose(目的)of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. It helps you know what you are not good at. The world will still go on even if you fail in a test, so don't be too worried.
What will life be like in the future? Many people, magazines and movies have told us that robots will be able to work for us. Now robots can already make cars, play music and do many trivial(平常的) things for us. In the future, they can do more things, such as making websites, making houses and so on. Some people even believe that in the future with the help of robots, we needn't work.
In the future, people might create a"man"that cannot have a will of his own and has to follow or‐ ders only from his master(主人). The master must train him mentally with computers. As you know, an adult who follows the same training over and over again will not be able to change, without another training. This means the master can have it work in a factory with no pay. And he will still be happy even if he only gets the basic life-support goods, because it's the way he was trained. I believe that this is the reason why the government does not allow any human to research.
One day, a man found a cocoon(茧)of a butterfly in the forest. He sat there for several hours and watched the cocoon. Suddenly a small opening appeared, and the butterfly made its great effort to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had got‐ ten as far as it could and it could go no further.
So the man decided to help the butterfly. He cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon so that the but‐ terfly could come out easily. But to his surprise, the butterfly got a heavy body and very small wings when it came out of the cocoon.
The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that the body would grow smaller at any moment and the wings would become larger and the butterfly would be able to fly. But nothing hap‐pened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling(爬)around with a heavy body and small wings. It was never able to fly.
The man was in his kindness, but he did not understand the nature rules. Before the butterfly came out of the cocoon, fluid(流体)from its body must be forced into its wings, and then it would be ready for flying. It must have a hard struggle(拼搏)to get through the small opening to get its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If god allowed us to go through our life without any difficulties, it would make us fail. We would not be as strong as we could have been, and we could never fly.
Confidence(自信)is very important in daily life. It can help you to develop a healthy attitude. A study shows that the people who are more confident are much happier. They can have more chances to become successful.
Speak aloud
When you are not confident, you can't do well what you want to do. Try to speak aloud so that people can hear you clearly. The high voice can help you become more confident.
Physical exercise makes you tired but completely relaxed. When you are playing sports, you will be full of confidence.
Encourage yourself
Write down a list of things you did during the day to see how many things you have done well. You helped your mother with the housework. You told a joke that made someone laugh.
Give yourself praise for the good things you've done.
Get rid of(消除)fear
Fear comes along with failure. But it's easy to overcome it if you know that failure is a part of your life. Try to start again and believe you can do better.

If you like singing, sing as much as you can. In some ways, a hobby can make you outstanding. And it will make you happy and confident.
