Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your biggest strength.
Take, for example, the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo (柔道), although he had lost his left 1 in a car accident.
The boy began lessons with an old judo teacher. The boy was doing well, but he couldn't understand why, after three 2 , the teacher had taught him only one move.
"Teacher," the boy 3 said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?" "This is the only move you'll ever need to know," the teacher replied.
The boy didn't quite understand, but he believed in his teacher and kept 4 .
Several more months later, the teacher took the boy to his first tournament (锦标赛). The boy easily won his first two matches. The third match was more 5 , but after some time, he used his one move to win the match.
Still 6 by his success, the boy was now in the finals.
This time, his opponent (对手) was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be 7 . The referee (裁判) was worried that the boy might get hurt. He was about to stop the match when the boy's teacher said, "No, let him continue."
Soon after the match started again, his opponent made a big 8 : He dropped his guard. The boy quickly used his move to pin (按住) him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the 9 .
On the way home, the boy asked his teacher: "Teacher, how could I win the tournament with only one move?"
"You won for two 10 ," the teacher answered. "First, you've learnt one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only defense (防卫) for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm."
A boy who was cleaning shoes in the street said to a young man passing by (路过的), "Let me clean your shoes." The young man said, "No, thank you." "You may pay me only a pound, sir." said the boy. But the young man refused again. Then the boy said, "____" The young man agreed to this, and soon one of his shoes was bright. The man put the other shoe on the boy, but the boy didn't clean it unless (除非) the man give him two pounds (英镑) for his work. The young man didn't agree to pay anything and went away.
But the dirty one looked so bad that he couldn't walk away. He had to turn back and gave the boy two pounds. In a very short time his shoes were bright.
A rich man and a poor tailor (裁缝) live in the same house. The rich man lives upstairs and the tailor lives downstairs. The tailor likes to sing when he makes clothes. He sings one song after another. But the rich man likes to sleep a lot, and the singing disturbs him. One day, the rich man says, "Tailor, I'll give you a bag full of money every day if you stop singing." "Fine," says the tailor. So the tailor stops singing and becomes richer and richer. But after some time he finds he is not happy because he wants very much to sing again. Then he gives all the money back to the rich man. "Here," he says, "Take your money back. I'm unhappy if I cannot sing." He puts the money on the table and goes away and sings. He sings and sings. And he is happier than before.
