Over 2,000 years ago, in China, there lived a boy called Confucius. When he was only three, his father died. His mother was very poor. In those days, people had to pay to go to school and his mother did not have enough money to send him.
As Confucius grew up, he wanted to learn things. So he decided to teach himself. Unluckily he was a strange-looking boy. The other children pointed and made fun of him. They called him names and laughed at him. Confucius got very upset, but he was a kind, gentle boy and did not fight back.
Confucius did not play with other children. He went off to talk to holy men (圣人)in the temple (寺庙)and learnt from them. He talked to artists and musicians and learnt from them. If he tried to do something difficult, he kept trying over and over again until he learnt how to do it. In this way the boy taught himself to read and write and learnt lots of interesting things. Confucius grew up to be a very clever man.
When he was a man, Confucius became the mayor of the city of Changtu. People were very happy when he was their leader because he was a wise ruler. He used his abilities and skills in a clever and new way.
People sometimes call him the wisest man who ever lived. We still remember many of his wise sayings today.

I like fish, too. My father and I often go fishing in the park. Then my father gets water. My mother likes to cook for us and she cooks fish and eggs. After lunch, I fly a kite with our dog, Maomao. Then we sing some English songs. We are all very happy on Sundays!
Last weekend, twenty thousand people gathered in the state of Georgia to watch students from twenty-eight countries compete with robots they built. More than ten thousand students and more than five hundred robots took part in the competition.
Almost one thousand and seven hundred high school teams entered a level of competition called LUNACY. The competitors came from eleven countries, including the United States. In January, the organization sent the same supplies for robots to each team. The teams had six weeks to build robots that could compete in the LUNACY game. The playing area had six robots, three on each team. Each robot had a trailer(拖车) connected to it. The robots had to pick up large balls and throw them into the trailers of opposing robots. The robots were moving on a surface where they could slide(滑行). A team from California won the competition.
A second competition involved building a robot that could travel on uneven(不平坦的) surfaces, move objects with unusual shapes and withstand(承受) physical stress.
Another competition was for younger students, aged nine to fourteen years old. Eighty-four teams from twenty-seven countries competed with robots made with LEGO products. They had to design, build and program robots to explore the Earth's climates.
There are 365 days in a year. We sleep 8 hours a day, so we have 122 days for sleeping. Then our work time has 243 days left. But there are 52 weekends in a year. Each weekend has two days. We lose another 104 days a year for work. It takes us about one hour to have breakfast and supper. This comes to 15 days over a year. But we can't work all that time.
We need a holiday. Let's say we have three weeks' holiday. We don't work all day. For free hours each evening takes up 61 days. We have to remember that we get 2 days' holiday at Easter(复活节) , 3 at Christmas and we have 32 days for work. But then we have one and a half hours'lunch every day, and half an hour's coffee break. That comes to 30 days a year. This means(意味着) that we have only a few days left for work every year!
