Steve Taylor was in his room lying down for sleep while his mother Katelyn was taking a shower. She wanted to bathe(泡澡) before going to bed. The 5-year-old boy was just about to fall asleep when he heard a loud noise from the bathroom. He hurried to have a look.
When he got to the bathroom,he found his mother lying in the bathtub(浴缸) with blood coming from her head. She had an epileptic fit(癫痫发作) and didn't know anything. However, little Steve kept a cool head.
He first went to his 2—month—old sister, put her in a blanket(毛毯),and placed her on the sofa. He then climbed up a chair to open the door. Once the door opened,Steve picked her up from the sofa and went to his neighbor's house. The neighbor,Jessica, was very surprised to see her two young neighbors standing outside her door at such a strange hour.
She first thought the little boy was going to talk about his dog. But he said, "No,my mom died in the bathroom. Can you take care of us?" Jessica ran to the next door in a hurry and found Katelyn in the bathtub with the water still running. She called 911 and help arrived just in time.
Ms. Taylor believed that her son saved her life. If not her son,she probably would have died right there in her bathtub. Steve was praised(表扬) by the fire station. They showed up at his house with their fire truck to give him some special prizes.

In September,2020,I had the chance to come to China for the first time and visited Yunnan Province.
On the first day,we went to a village named Xiaopingzhai. I was amazed to discover that a small tea factory could bring in 6 million yuan a year with only 20 workers.
The next stop of our trip was the village of Kangmian. Many families now live there after leaving uninhabitable(不适合居住的) areas. The new village has 450 housing units. There I have learned that the government helps the people by providing jobs so that they can support themselves. Of the 1,331 villagers,609 now have jobs.
In Shuiduichong,a traditional Yao ethnic (瑶族) group village,we visited the workshops for making silver ornaments (银饰品). We discovered the skill had a history of more than 200 years. Besides the traditional use of silver ornaments in Yao culture, ▲.
A set of silver ornaments can be sold for between 10,000 and 20,000 yuan on the market. The making of silver ornaments creates jobs in the village. Shuiduichong now has more than 20 family workshops.
This trip was over. I have realized that through the hard work of the Chinese government, great changes have taken place in Yunnan. These impressive(印象深刻的) results should serve as an example for other developing countries.

It was Mother's Day. My uncle's restaurant was very busy. It seemed that every family took their mother out to eat that day.
My uncle called me from the restaurant. "Henry, people are lining up outside. Can you come to help out?" he asked.
"Sure!" I stopped playing computer games and went to the restaurant with my brother.
We helped bring food and water to the tables and take the dirty dishes away when the customers finished eating.
The chefs (厨师) and their helpers worked like crazy. The kitchen manager called out the orders. The kitchen helpers ran to get things in place. The chefs were busy turning meats and vegetables into delicious food in just minutes.
I didn't remember how many times I brought things in and out through that kitchen door.
I just remembered that at the end of the day,my legs were very sore. The next day,I told my friends, "It felt like I walked all the way from Ottawa to Montreal. "

Do you believe? One of the most famous restaurants in America isn't a real place. It is a(n) by Edward Hopper.
Hopper was different from many artists in the early 1900s. He painted things such as a restaurant and a shop. You may ask, " do people want to buy a painting of a restaurant?" That is because Hopper's paintings more than just buildings and people. They show the life of people in cities. That's what he felt deep in his heart then. He once said, "I don't think I ever tried to paint the American sights. I just tried to paint . "
Hopper's paintings show of many people in the 1900s. It was a time of great change. Many people were moving cities from farms and small towns. They their small towns. The big cities, with tall buildings and so many strangers, seemed cold to them.
Hopper's painting of the restaurant is called Nighthawks. In the painting, the restaurant is bright, but it doesn't seem warm. The city outside looks dark and cold. This is Edward Hopper thought of the city life.
