I am the proud owner of three pet dogs. Over the years, I have watched their activities carefully that help me when I travel around the world.
One important lesson that my dog, Cody, taught me is how to deal with little problems in life. From the way he has dealt with his recent serious illness, I have learned how I can face difficult situations when travelling. I've learned to try to deal with bad situations in a peaceful way, such as when we miss a train, lose things, and so on.
Another dog of mine, Preston, loves to walk around the yard, spending hours smelling every corner and finding out what it means to him. Taking it slowly is another lesson that's been very hard for me to learn. As an active traveller, I am usually experiencing less by speeding through everything instead of slowly getting to know a place. Even if it means that you won't see as many things, going slowly when you travel is the best way to really get to know a new place. Rushing around a foreign city isn't fun at all.
Something bad happened to my dog, Mona, before. And while she has become more relaxed over the years, she is still kind of on edge. She is very careful when faced with any new situation. But once she's used to her new environment, she is fine. The same goes for our travel experience. No matter where we go, we need to deal with new situations carefully—while at the same time not letting anything turn into fear.
Many thanks to my pets. To me, pets are not just pets, but a part of the family. After all, with the help of them, I am able to learn a lot and live differently.
Kindness is necessary and important, and usually success lies in kindness. As parents and teachers, we also teach children from a young age to "be kind to one another" and "treat others the way you want to be treated. "
Research has shown that kindness can not only help us to have a better relationship with others but also make it possible for us to live more happily. According to the Mayo Clinic, when we perform acts of kindness, the pleasure center in our brain becomes active, giving out the stress-reducing hormone(激素). That's why a volunteer always says he will get a strong feeling of satisfaction after offering help. And what is even greater is that kindness seldom stops with just one person. People will also be glad to help others after they receive an act of kindness. Then here comes a question: Could kindness be harmful to us? Let's think about it.
You are the new person on the team and you want to be well-liked and respected by your teammates. You are a kind person and tell your team, "Let me know how I can help you; I'm always available to help. "Though you may truly mean this, there are unlucky people in this world who will regard your kindness as a weakness. This can lead to you being taken advantage of by others.
What about a year later? You have been in your position now for one year, and you are working with the same team. You are noticing that your teammates continue asking for your help over and over again. In fact, the only time they communicate with you is when they need something. You have been helpful to your teammates but there has rarely been any return from them.
In general, it is wonderful to be kind to others, and your kind acts will be appreciated and, perhaps, paid off. However, you need to be willing to say "no" when realizing that your plate is already too full. When people ask you a hand, think it over if you have the time, energy, and attention to give to them. To truly be kind, sometimes you need to be more comfortable saying "no" to others and saying "yes"to yourself.
①Can exercise during childhood protect you against memory loss many years later? Exercise early in life seems to have lifelong benefits(好处) for the brain, in rats at least.
②"This is an animal study, but it shows that physical activity at a young age is very important — not just good for your body, but for the mind during ageing," says Martin of the University of Toronto, Canada. "In humans, it may put off the appearance of Alzheimer's (阿兹海默症)symptoms, possibly to the point of stopping them. "
③Martinˈs team divided 80 young male rats into two groups, and placed running wheels in the cages of one group for six weeks. Around four months later — when the rats had reached middle age — the team taught all the rats to connect an electric shock with being in a specific box. When placed in the box, they froze with fear.
④Two weeks later, the team tested the rats in three situations: exactly the same box in the same room, the same box in a different room , and a completely different box in a different room.
⑤The rats without a running wheel when they were young now froze the same period of time in each of these situations, suggesting they couldn't remember which one was dangerous. But those that had been able to run when they were young froze 40 to 50 percent less in both changed box settings.
⑥"The results suggest the amount of exercise when we're young, at least for rats, has influence on brain and health — in the form of better memories — when we're older," says Arthur Kramer of Northeastern University in Boston, who has found that, in humans, exercise improves the growth of new brain cells(细胞).

People know the dangers of fires. It's good for a family to learn how to prepare for a fire. There are some suggestions:
. Smoke from a fire causes the alarm to go off. The alarm makes a loud sound. The sound tells everyone to leave the house at once.
. Everyone should know all the ways out of the house. If there is a fire, everyone should know all the ways out of the house. If there is a fire, everyone follows the plans to get out. Part of the plans is to check all the windows to make sure they can be opened easily.
. Everyone in the family should know how to use them.
. In this way, when a real fire comes, we won't feel that scared. At the same time, we teach children about fire safety.
Everyone in the family should know the following fire rules:
Don't open a hot door. The fire can grow more quickly if you open the door.
. Smoke can be more dangerous than fire. The best air always lies there because smoke rises.
There are many possible causes for fires. A wise family is ready all the time. If there is a fire, don't forget to call 119 for help.
A. Practice for a fire. B.Make escape plans. C. Open the windows! D. Stay close to the floor. E. Put a smoke alarm in the house. F. Buy fire extinguishers (灭火器) in the house. |
Thank you Principal Xu,all the teachers and most importantly, the class of 2019. If I can't make my speech fantastic,I will at least try to make it short.
It's been nearly 40 years since I became a member of the army. You may be wondering how I have won so many honors as a commander-in chief(总司令).In fact, it all began from the half a 1 basic training, which I will never forget. The training included midnight swims in the cold water, days without 2 and long painful runs in the soft sand. I always felt cold, wet sleepy and painful. To me ,the basic training was a lifetime of challenges that 3 six months. And today, I'd like to talk about one little thing which I think is one of the most important points leading to 4 .
Every morning , my instructors(教官) would5 in our rooms. The first thing they did was to6 our beds. The corners would be square . The covers would be pulled tight, and the pillow(枕头)would be in the center, just under the headboard. It was a(n) 7 task. But every morning we were required to make our beds8 . It seemed a little funny, but the wisdom of this simple act has been proved to 9 many times over.
If you make your bed every morning, you will have completed the 10 task of the day.It will bring you a small sense of success, and it will 11 you to do another task, and another. At last, one task completed will have 12 into many tasks completed. Making your bed will prove 13 .
Even now, I still start my day with making the bed to perfection. So if you have 14 day ,you will come home to a bed that is made—that you made—and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better. So 15 off by making your bed.I hope all of you will have a brighter future!
The Open Hand—a Universal Sign
When (meet) people at the airport, most people smile and shake hands with the people they meet. We know that a smile is usually a sign that people feel (friend) and happy, but what will happen we don't know who the new person is? What if we are not introduced by a friend? What if we are meeting a stranger in an unfamiliar place?
Sometimes people are dangerous and humans have to find ways to protect (them). We have to make sure we can trust people we do not know, and we have to show that we are not dangerous. Showing our hands(mean) that we are not armed. In many cultures today, the Western custom of shaking hands(use). We use our right hand, which is usually (strong) than the left one. If we are using our hand this way, it can't be holding a knife or a gun. It shows that we trust the other person, and that the other person can trust us.
Not all cultures use the handshake, and people in many Asian cultures do not always touch another person. Japanese people might cover one handthe other hand, depending onthey are greeting, bow (鞠躬) slightly or quite low. In India, Hindu people join their hands in front of their faces and bow their heads. A Muslim will touch his heart, mouth and forehead to show respect.
In almost all cultures, to smile and showopen right hand means, "welcome, you are safe with me."

Stand back! A famous train is coming into the station! It's called the Shinkansen, although many people call it the bullet train (子弹头列车) because of its long round nose.
These Japanese trains by Hideo Shima in the early 1960s. They are one of trains in the world. The journey from Tokyo to Nagano used to take three hours. Now, with the bullet train which travels at 300 kilometers per hour, it's only 80 ride. Bullet trains are always on time, and they're comfortable. As you sit on the train, you feel like you aren't at all. And they run on electricity, they 're very quiet. But don't fall asleep. There is a lot to see. The bullet train travel 300 bridges, and you can see the wonderful Mount Fuji out the windows, too.

What's your most important change? However, I'm still weak in Chinese learning. Could you please give me some advice? Looking forward to your reply! Yours, Tony |
