Babies like sitting in the prams which are pushed by their mothers along the road or in the park. They sit in the prams eating, drinking, laughing or sleeping.
But have you ever heard of the Pram Race before? It is held in Hull, England once a year. You might see some people running along the road and pushing the prams as fast as they can. However, there aren't any babies in the prams, but adults instead. They jump out of the prams and drink lots of milk on the table along the road. Then they get into the prams and go on racing. The Pram Race is held to raise money for the people in need. For example, it helps to make it possible for disabled people to have wheelchairs for free.
It all started when Hull was a fishing town. Every Friday afternoon, fishermen's wives had to run, pushing the prams with their babies in. They took money to pay their bills and buy food rapidly before their husbands returned from the sea.
At the beginning only a few people were interested in the race, but now quite a lot of people including children, teenagers and the old take part in it each year. It is watched by more than three thousand people. These days, the Pram Race has become more famous in the town. People can not only watch the exciting race, but also share their joy and friendship every year. If you want to watch the Pram Race, go to Hull.

Does your child struggle in school? Is he or she afraid of reading out loud, writing an essay, or working out a math problem? While every kid has trouble with homework from time to time, if a certain area of learning keeps going wrong, it might show a learning disorder. Learning disorders, or learning disabilities, are a general term for a large number of learning problems.
A learning disability is not a problem with IQ or motivation. Kids with learning disabilities aren't lazy or slow. In fact, most are just as smart as everyone else. Their brains are just wired differently. Simply put, children and adults with learning disabilities see, hear, and understand things differently. This difference influences how they receive and process information. This can lead to trouble in learning new information and skills, and putting them to use.
It can be hard to face the possibility that your child has a learning disorder. No parents want to see their children suffer. You may wonder what it could mean for your child's future, or worry about how your kid will make it through at school. But the important thing to remember is that most kids with learning disabilities are just as smart as everyone else. They just need to be taught in ways that suit their special learning styles.
It's not always easy to tell whether a child has learning disabilities, for learning disabilities look very different from one child to another. One child may struggle with reading and spelling, while another loves books but can't understand math. Still another child may have difficulty understanding what others are saying or communicating out loud. However, some warning signs are more common than others at different ages. If you realize what they are, you'll be able to catch a learning disorder early and quickly start to help your child.
A. Use the Internet carefully. B. Learn to co-operate. C. Be open to new ideas. D. Please don't copy others' work. E. Tell the truth. F. Do more activities at school. |
In order to educate the students better, a middle school develops some new rules and behaviors to decide who is the excellent student. Some of them are as follows:
Good students love animals and care for others. April is Bird-loving Month in China. Our school will do something to celebrate it. You should join! you can learn more about animals and how to protect them. When more people work together, it brings us more happiness.
Have you ever copied someone else's work in an exam? Don't do it again! That's not something honest students should do. If you are playing computer games in your room, don't tell your parents you're doing your homework.
The Internet can be very useful for your studies. But not everything on the Internet is fit for kids. You may enter healthy websites for your homework or just for fun.
When your basketball team is losing, only working together can make your team stronger. Be friendly to the people you are with. Try to think of others, not only for yourself.
Have you ever thought people live on the moon? Maybe you'll discover Earth Ⅱ someday. Don't look down upon new ideas. All the ideas are important. You should welcome them, because new ideas make life better for everyone.
Maybe you always wonder why your pocket money disappeared so quickly. Well, this may be you don't have a careful plan. If you try a budget for your pocket money, you will find you can stop money going so fast. A budget is a plan to control where your money (go) . Careful budget can help you save for the things you want but can't pay for just now. Useful or not? Look at the (follow) before you start your budget:
● Every month there are things we have to pay for, like school lunches and buses, which are (important). There are also things we would like to spend money on — just for fun! All these are (month) expenses (开销).
● Since we can't have money for everything, we have to make (choose). We need to ask if we really need something or just want it. Needs are what you must have in order to live, like food and water. Wants are things you would like to have or do, but not necessary. For example, CDs and cartoons.
● List what you must spend on needs — and if there is money left, you will save for things you really want. This (call) a budget.
● If you don't have enough money for what you need, you may have to give up one for the other. No budget is fixed. Keep an eye on (you). Maybe you wanted a cartoon book but now you want MP3 . Your needs may change into wants, or your wants may change into needs.
