One day, a man goes into a chemist's shop(药店) and says, "Do you have anything to cure(治疗) a headache?"

The chemist(药剂师) takes a bottle from a shelf, holds it under the man's nose and takes out the cork (软木塞). The bottle gives out a special smell. The smell is very strong. Tears come into the man's eyes and run down his face. "What do you do that for?" he says angrily when he can get back his breath (呼吸).

"The medicine can cure your headache," says the chemist.

"Don't be silly!"" says the man, "My son has a headache, not me!"

In China, people in different places live in different kinds of buildings. People in cities usually live in flats (公寓). Flats are usually in tall buildings. Some flats are big, and some are small. There are a few rooms in a flat. Many people live in houses. Most of the houses are not near the centre (中心)of cities. A house is a small building with a garden or a yard(院子). Some houses have one floor, and some have two or more. Some people live in yurts(蒙古包). These people travel with their cattle(牛)and sheep all the time. They can take the yurts with them easily. Some people in the northwest live in caves. People dig holes into mountains and build houses there. The caves are warm in winter and cool in summer. Do you know other kinds of buildings in China?

There is a new library in the city. It's big and modern(现代的). You have many ways to get there. You can go by bus, car, underground or bike. It has five floors, and there are lots of books on each floor.

Jim goes to the library with Charlie. He wants to borrow a book. They can't see any library assistants (图书管理员), but some robots are standing there. Jim says to a robot, "Hey, give the book to me, Mr Robot." But the robot doesn't move. "What's wrong with it?" he asks Charlie.

Charlie tells Jim, "When you want to borrow a book from it, you should say 'please' first. "So Jim says, "Please give me the book, Mr Robot. "Now the robot brings him the book. But Jim can't take the book out of the robot's hand.

This time, Jim knows the reason(原因) quickly. He says to the robot, "Thank you, Mr. Robot. "Then the robot gives the book to him and goes away.

    It's warm on Sunday. My father is writing a book about my family. My sister is reading a magazine in the living room. My brother is making posters about his class. My baby brother is sleeping. My mother is cooking in the kitchen. What am I doing? I am watching them. Because of the fine day, we decide to climb a mountain in the afternoon. What a nice day!

    Our eating habits are very important for good health and a strong body. Most of us like eating sweets and ice-cream better than meat and rice. Sweets and ice-cream are not bad for us if we eat them at the end of a meal. But if we eat them before a meal, they may take away our appetite (食欲). It's important for us to eat our meal at regular (规律)time each day. When we feel worried and excited, we may not want to eat. It is important to eat healthy food and to have a healthy body.

    One day, Mr. and Mrs. White went shopping by oar. They stopped their car near a shop. They bought a lot of things, and wanted to put the things into the car. But Mr. White couldn't open the door of car, so they asked a policeman to help them. The policeman was very friendly. He started to open the car for them. Just then a man came up and shouted "What are you doing with my car?" Mr. and Mrs. White had a look at the cars number and they were frozen there. It wasn't their car.

    How are you? Next week, my family will go to Xi'an for a holiday. It is in the west of China. We'll go there by plane. We'll arrive at Xianyang airport in the morning. The weather report says it is very hot in Xi'an now. There is a very tall pagoda (塔) in the city. I'll visit some interesting places. I think the trip will be great.

There are many great inventions in the world, but my favourite invention is the computer. The computer helps me a lot. With the computer, I can find lots of information I need. I can read e-books, research the latest news and watch movies. I can play games or listen to music when I am tired. It is easy to communicate with my friends. I often chat with them through e-mails and QQ. I think in the future, the computer will be used by everyone.

Ben is a lazy boy. He is eight years old. He likes playing computer games. He doesn't like doing homework at all. It's ten o'clock in the evening now. Ben isn't doing his homework. He is watching TV.
