New rules and behavior standards(行为规范) for middle school students came out in March. The middle school is going to use a new way to decide who the top students are．The best students won't only have high marks. It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. It had not rained in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. If it did not rain soon, we would lose everything. On this day, I witnessed(目睹) a wonder.

    When the water was gone, Billy ran back to the house. I followed him to the tap. Billy opened it and a small trickle(细流) came out. He knelt down, letting the drops slowly fill up his "cup".

Now I understood what was going on. The week before, he tried giving water to our horses but I told him not to waste water. Now when he stood up and turned, I was there in front of him. His eyes filled with tears, "I'm not wasting," he said. I joined him with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him walk to the baby deer alone while I stood at the edge of the woods. As tears rolled down my face, they were suddenly joined by other drops... and more drops... as if the sky itself was crying.

The Internet is very popular with young people nowadays. They think that the Internet has brought them a number of advantages. In my opinion, the Internet affects（影响） young people not only in a positive way, but also in a negative(消极的)way.

There is no doubt that the Internet has a good effect on widening young people's knowledge. It keeps everyone knowledgeable. In just a few minutes each day people can get the most recent news. Moreover, more and more young people are using the Internet to look for information to help them in their work or studies. They can also learn a lot about culture and history on the Internet.

On the other hand, the Internet also has negative influences on young people. Firstly, the over-use of computers can bring in bad physical side-effects. It will do harm to people's eyes to sit in front of a computer for a long time without a break. Other health problems, such as stomachache, headache and back pain, also happen quite easily to those who spend too much time on computers. Furthermore, the Internet seems to separate young people from the real world. Although they are usually familiar with the current affairs, their face-to-face communication skills are very poor. They communicate with other people through Yahoo, My space and MSN instead of going out with their family or meeting friends. Therefore, young people can show a lack of common sense in relationships or have difficulty, communicating in the real world. In addition, a lot of websites are not good for teenagers. For example, some websites include unhealthy videos that should be deleted.

In conclusion, besides helping young people to increase their knowledge, the Internet may also bring in some bad results. While the benefits seem to fill all the need, the disadvantages also need the same attention. The young really need guidance on how to use the Internet.
