I lived in Perth, Australia with my six-year-old son Daniel. One night after a busy day at work, I ran to Daniel's childcare centre to collect1on time. Daniel is a talkative boy but he has few2in the center because of his chatter without stop. He sometimes was lonely. On the way home, he told me a lot about his life there, 3he felt excited when he talked about some interesting things. After dinner, we went outside so Daniel could ride his bicycle. 4his Batman costume*, he thought he was the man who could fight the bad people. He was energetic as he 5 proudly through Claremont Street towards the river. At the same time, I walked alongside feeling weighed down. I tried to keep a cheerful face, but inside I had 6 uncertain. When we got to the river we walked down the pier. There was an old man 7. Looking into the bucket beside him, the old man seemed to be satisfied with his work tonight. I had a little 8 that be would get angry with us or drive us away because Daniel would disturb* his 9 by making a lot of noise, so I told Daniel to be quiet. He nodded his head. As we got closer, the man on the small chair stopped fishing, turned, 10, smiled and asked, "How's Batman this evening?"
Daniel 11 told the man that Batman was good before asking about the fish. I bad been afraid we 12 disturb the man, causing an unpleasant experience between us. But I couldn't have been more wrong. The kind man showed great kindness and patience to my son. He communicated with my son, laughing happily. Watching their13 made my eyes watery. Then Daniel threw away his bike and sat cross-legged on the ground, keeping on sharing his life in the childcare center. To some degree, they chatted like old friends who had not seen each other for a long time. This lovely old gentleman was so 14 and truly interested in Batman, my little boy, that I just wanted to cry. My sadness was healed at that time.
I will never forget 15this man gave my son the time of the day. I will always be thankful for that.

Do dogs understand us?
Be careful what you say around your dog. It might understand more than you think.
A border collie named Rico recognizes the names of about 200 objects, say researchers in Germany. The dog also appears to be able to learn new words as easily as a 3-year-old child. Its word-learning skills are as good as those of a parrot or chimpanzee.
In one experiment, the researchers took all 200 items that Rico is supposed to know and divided them into 20 groups of 10 objects. Then the owner told the dog to go and fetch one of the items and bring it back. In four tests, Rico got 37 out of 40 commands right. As the dog couldn't see anyone to get clues, the scientists believe Rico must understand the meanings of certain words.
In another experiment, the scientists took one toy that Rico had never seen before and put it in a room with seven toys whose names the dog already knew. The owner then told Rico to fetch the object, using a word the dog had never heard before.
The correct object was chosen in 7 out of 10 tests, suggesting that the dog had worked out the answer by process of elimination. A month later, Rico remembered half of the new names, which is even more impressive.
Rico is thought to be smarter than the average dog. For one thing. Rico is a border collie, a breed known for its mental abilities. In addition, the 9-year-old dog has been trained to fetch toys by their names since the age of nine months.
It's hard to know if all dogs understand at least some of the words we say. Even if they do, they can't talk back. Still, it wouldn't hurt to sweet-talk your dog every now and then. You might just get a big, wet kiss in return!
When Jordan Reeves walked into her first dance class, everyone stared at her left arm, which stops above her elbow.
"They kept looking and whispering." recalls Jordan. "It made me so mad because they didn't even try to talk to me."
By the next week, Jordan was not so angry anymore. Still, she wanted to send a message. She walked into her next class, holding her head up and wearing a T-shirt with bold letters that read "Don't Stare. Just Ask. "
To her disappointment, no one asked her anything——but the staring stopped. "I don't know if the shirt made a difference," says Jordan. "But I felt stronger."
Growing up, Jordan attended camps for kids with limb differences. Then, four years ago, she was invited to a workshop in San Francisco called BOOST. She was challenged to design a new prosthetic arm-one that would tum her disability into a "superpower".
Jordan teamed up with designers to create an arm that looks amazing. They used a 3-D printer to create the prosthetic arm. Instead of paper, the 3-D printer used plastic to create an arm shaped like a unicorn's horn. Jordan called her invention Project Unicorn.
"It was a really cool experience to show that you can build onto your difference to make it awesome," says Jordan. "Not that it wasn't already awesome!"
Jordan's mom shared the story of Project Unicorn online, and it quickly spread on social media. Jordan was already a mentor to other kids with disabilities. Now she had a bigger audience and could share her message with more people.
Jordan and her mom also formed an organization called Born Just Right to help other kids with limb differences. They're making it possible for kids from across the U. S. to create their own limbs, like Jordan did. "Your differences are amazing. Jordan says. "You never know what amazing things you can do with them."
Mathew Cuthbert and his sister, Marilla, lived at Green Gables, a small farm near the town of Avonlea. One day, Matthew was wearing his best clothes. He drove to the train station in Avonlea.
"Has the five-thirty train arrived yer?" Matthew asked the stationmaster.
"Yes, it has. And a little girl is waiting for you over there. "replied the stationmaster.

Matthew saw a thin girl with red hair. She saw Matthew looking at her, and ran to him.
"Are you Mr. Cuthbert?" She asked in a high, sweet voice. "I'm Anne. I'm very happy to come and live with you!"
Matthew didn't know what to say. He felt sorry for the little girl. Matthew decided to take the girl home. Maybe Marilla could tell her it was a mistake.
On their way home, Anne told him all about herself. "My parents died when I was young. I've always been poor, so I don't have any nice dresses! But I just imagine that I'm wearing a beautiful dress Then I'm happy. "
When they arrived at Green Gables, Marilla came to the door to greet them. She was smiling and her arms were open. But when she saw the little girl, she suddenly stopped.
"Matthew, who's this? Where's the boy?" Marilla asked.
"The Children's Home made a mistake, they sent girl instead of a boy. " Matthew said.
The child was listening carefully. "Oh, you don't want me! You'll send me back! This is just the worst thing in my life." She suddenly cried out.
Marilla felt sorry for the girl and finally agreed to let the girl stay here for one night. When the girl was in bed, Marilla spoke to Matthew. "She must go back tomorrow."
"She's a nice little thing. you know. Don't you think…" Matthew stopped.
"But we don't need a girl!"
