Grace and I are good friends. We get_on_very_well_with_each_other,_though sometimes we fight. I remember last year we didn't talk with each other for a long time before Mid­Autumn Day. But when we met each other that day, we became good friends again.

We both study well. We like talking about problems in our studies. We also like making up stories. We made up one in English last month. It was called “Magic Sunflower Club”. I think this is a wonderful name.

Do you want to know more about us? Grace is tall and active. She does better in P．E. than me. She is good at music. She plays the piano so well that sometimes birds come to listen to her.

I'm shorter and quieter than Grace. I know a lot about science. I often have some new ideas. I'm good at math and art. Our teacher says my drawing is getting better and better.

If we don't know anything very well, we will help each other. So we never have any problems.

Drink eight cups of water every day. Water helps your body in many ways. If you feel thirsty, just have a cup of water.

Don't forget to eat your breakfast. Breakfast gives you everything your body needs for the morning, so do not forget your breakfast.

Get enough calcium(钙). Your bones(骨头) need it. Milk has more calcium. You may also drink orange juice with calcium in it.

Go for a walk every day after meals. Walking is good exercise, and people need exercise for good health. It's better to walk after meals.

Stretch for five minutes after sitting for one or two hours. Stretching your arms and legs is good for your body.

Use your brain every day. For example, you can do crossword puzzles or read a new book.

Have a rest for about twenty minutes when you are tired. You may do something different to have a break. For example, get up and walk. Or sit down to listen to music.

Friends are very important in everyone's life because friends are always there when we need them. It's great to have many friends, and l can't think about my life without my friends.

My best friend is Lisa. She is one year older than me. Now she is in the same class with me, in the 8th grade. She is tall and quite thin. She has long curly blond hair and blue eyes. Sometimes I wish I could be as beautiful as she is.

Lisa and I like doing a lot of things together and talking about different things. She always helps me with my math and I sometimes help her with her English and history. I had to do a report on science once. The next day. I read it in front of the class. But the teacher told me that my report was wrong and all my classmates laughed at me. I felt very bed about myself. She tried to be nicer than anybody else and make me happy.

I am a shy person and sometime I feel that people don't understand me.

She is also smart and she can do with everything. I am happy to have a friend like her.

    English is the first language of several countries. However, it has many differences. British, American, and South African English are all spoken differently. In many English language courses, the British and American differences are taught. There are important differences between the two.

    Probably the biggest difference between American and British English is the vocabulary. Different words and expressions are used to talk about the same thing. For example, in the United States, people throw their garbage into the trash can. In England, people throw their rubbish into the dustbin. In Britain, people take a lift to the fifth floor. In America, people take an elevator.

    American and British grammar can be also different. For example, speakers of British English will ask "What did you do at the weekend?", but Americans usually say "on the weekend." In the United States people usually say "I've gotten a new car.", but in the UK they will say "I've just got a new car."

    The pronunciation in American and British English is also different, even when the spelling is the same. The word "tomato"—pronounced "to-mah-to" in British English—is a classic example of this.Vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation are three ways English is different in different parts of the world.

    Learning all these is not easy, so English learners should just know that they are always there.

    My name is Jerry Zhang, and I am a father of two young daughters one is about four years old and the other is only about one. I come from China and now live in the USA.

One day, my older daughter, Madison, told me she didn't want to be Chinese. Those days she was crazy about the book characters Madeline and Eloise. She kept asking me why she was Chinese and they weren't, and how she could have blonde or red hair like them.

    This made me look for books with Asian (亚洲的) characters for Madison to read. However, I only found a few, and they were heavily cultural, and Madison didn't connect (把……联系在一起) herself with any if the characters in them. And she wasn't interested in them at all. Then she told me again that she didn't want to be Chinese, and it broke my heart.

    In most of the books for children in the USA, the characters look like Americans. Few of them have Asian faces, although there are over 17 million Asians and Asian Americans in this country. I think it's important for Asian children to see themselves in books as interesting and smart kids.

    So I created (创作) a book for Madison. Pepper Zhang in the book is an Asian girl. Her imagination (想象) takes her on a trip to creativity and art! I want my children to know-that being Chinese or being Asian is a great thing, too.

Do you like running? Running is one of the most popular activities these days. Many of us run for our. Doctors say many of the health problems come from such bad habits as eating too , drinking too much, smoking, staying up late and not having enough exercise. Doctors tell us, don't smoke, have enough sleep and exercise more. "Running is a good exercise because it build a strong body. It also helps many people lose weight. One 25-year-old woman teacher runs for half an hour in the morning five a week. She runs to lose weight. "I feel comfortable and I'm not fat any more, "she says.

Running is good for health in other ways, too. Many say running makes some small health problems go. "Running is my doctor, "says a man.

Running can also help people to. "After school, I like to run for ten minutes. Then I feel  and energetic, "says Yang Min, a middle school student. So today men and women of all ages enjoy running.
