二、阅读理解
  • 2. (2024八下·宁南月考) 阅读理解

Everyone has got two personalities (性格)—the one that is shown to the world and the other that is secret and real. You don't show your secret personality when you're awake because you can control yourself, but when you're asleep, your sleeping position shows the real you. In a normal night, of course, you often change your sleeping positions. The important position that best shows your secret personality is the one that you go to sleep.

If you go to sleep on your back, you're a very open person. You normally trust people and you are easily influenced by new ideas. You don't like to make people unhappy, so you never express your real feelings. You're quite shy and you aren't very confident.

If you sleep on your stomach, you are a person who likes to keep secrets. You worry a lot and you're always easily becoming sad. You never want to change your ideas, but you are satisfied with your life the way it is. You usually live for today not for tomorrow.

If you sleep on curled up (蜷缩) , you are probably a very nervous person. You have a low opinion of yourself and often protect yourself from being hurt, so you are very defensive. You're shy and you don't usually like meeting people. You like to be on your own.

If you sleep on your side, you have usually got a well-balanced (平衡的) personality. You know your strengths and weaknesses. You're usually careful. You have a confident personality. You sometimes feel worried, but you don't often get unhappy. You always say what you think, even if it makes people angry.

    1. (1) You may find the passage in __________.
      A . a science magazine B . a guide book C . a sports newspaper D . a story book
    2. (2) When does the sleeping position best show your secret personality?
A . In the daytime. B . At the beginning of sleep. C . At night. D . During the deep sleep.
    3. (3) Tina hardly tells her secrets to her friends. She probably goes to sleep __________.

    4. (4) What does the word “defensive" mean in the passage?
      A . 易怒的 B . 攻击性的 C . 外向的 D . 有戒心的

It's time to put down your phone.

Researchers from a university in California have found that eye damage caused by too much screen time can harm other important organs(器官) and even shorten your life. Professor Pankaj Kapahi and Brian Hodge published their findings. It showed that the real situation is worse than we thought.

"Our study shows that this is a big problem: eye damage may actually lead to problems in other organs, " Kapahi said. He and Hodge studied the patterns of fruit flies and found that overexposure (过度接触) to light in the eyes can cause or worsen chronic disease(慢性病). Further research found that fruit flies that were completely in darkness lived longer than those that were not.

Too much time spent in front of a screen can harm your health. "To our surprise, wefound that the eye itself,at least in the fruit fly, can directly change life, ""Hodge said. "Looking at computer and phone screens will surely do harm to us. On top of these, being exposed to light pollution late into the night is especially bad for us, " Kapahi explained. " It messes up eye protection, damaging the rest of the body and the brain. "

These findings are very worrying because screen time has increased fast for many kids because of COVID-19. Parents reported that although they prevented their kids from playing video games, children's screen time still increased from 0. 75 hours to 6. 5 hours a day due to online classes.

"We always think of the eye as something that serves us. We don't think of it as something that needs to be protected, " Kapahi reminded us.

    1. (1) What is the main idea of the second paragraph?
A . What caused eye damage. B . How serious eye damage is and its effect. C . How to protect our organs. D . Why phones damage our health.
    2. (2) How did Kapahi know the influence of eye damage?
A . By interviewing people. B . By watching programs about light. C . By reading books about sleep. D . By studying fruit flies.
    3. (3) What does "it"" in Paragraph 4 refer to?
      A . Cellphone. B . Computer. C . Light pollution. D . Darkness.
    4. (4) What caused the increasing amount of kids' screen time?
      A . Wonderful movies. B . Online classes. C . Video games. D . Interesting stories.
    5. (5) What is the passage mainly about?
A . Too much light is not bad for our health. B . Children's screen time increased due to coVID-19. C . we need to protect our eyes during sleep. D . Eye damage from long screen time can be harmful.

三、任务型阅读
  • 5. (2022·盐田模拟) 请阅读短文,并从下列方框里的六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中,使原文的意思完整、连贯。

    A. Consider hand-making a gift.

    B. Remember the person's preferences.

    C. Go to the mall with them and see what they look at.

    D. Doing this can show that you really care about them.

E Sometimes, a meaningful message or letter can be more helpful.

    F. However, it's more important to think about the meaning of the gift.

Giving gifts is a great way to show your friends that you care, but sometimes it can be difficultto find the perfect present. Don't worry! Here are useful tips.

Think about things that they like or talk about. Try to remember anything they've mentioned in the past weeks, or anything they've had their eye on.

Give them something they actually want.

Sometimes. we always want to give the perfect gift to our friends, We seldom think whether or not it is something truly useful and meaningful to them, 28. For example, your friend really likes cats, but it dos not mean that they'll actually want a series of cat decorations which may be useless for them.

    .

If you're giving a gift to a close friend, think of a gift that stands for your relationship. While doing something simple like a friendship card or necklace by yourself may mean a lot between you two.

Write a letter to show your best wishes.

. Prepare your letter with a gift and you'll make an impression on your friend. Remember, don't make it too long! If you make your letter too long, it may start to give a feeling of dishonesty.

  • 6. (2024·深圳模拟)  下面的材料A~F分别介绍了六位同学对"两会提案"的看法,请根据他们的看法,找出他们各自赞同的议题。

    A. As the Internet develops quickly, those who suffered from online violence get mental problems. If we reduce the possibility of online violence by law, things will be great.

    —Zhang Hangming,14, Tianjin

    B. I think it's wise to encourage more people to have a third child, Free education for the third child will greatly do good to both families and our country.

    —Wang Zining,14,Shenzhen

    C. I think the suggestion is of great value. Life education can guide us students to actively face the challenges and difficulties in life, and form positive values and outlook on life.

    —Chen Yitian,15,Chengdu

    D. I think learning a foreign language is very important. It's not only a language but also abridge of communication between different countries. What we need is to find ways to make English learning easier and happier.

    —Fen Chengrui, 12, Shanghai

    E. I support this idea. Although people have a week-long holiday during the Spring Festival the actual holiday time is three days and they have to work two days on weekends. Such long working hours will make people tired, which may affect people's health.

    —Lai Yijiang,13,Lanzhou

    F. I support this idea. With the development of smart and health technologies, we can use hem to provide strong support for medical services and health management systems for the elderly. It's our responsibility to respect and care for the elderly.

    —Qian Wencan,15, Beijing

Smart health technology should be used to enable the elderly.

Increase the public holidays for the Spring Festival from three days to five days.

Life education in the textbooks for primary and secondary schools should be included.

Lower the foreign language score in the college entrance examination to 100 points.

Provide free education for the third child of each family from kindergarten to high school education.

In the modern world, when you need to write a letter or a report for work or school, you possibly first move toward the computer. Now, most people, if not all, reach out for (keyboard) way faster than they pick up their pens. But Mrs. Larry, a teacher in a British primary school, is taking a different road. She says that handwriting  (be) still an important skill, so she requires her students to write not only by hand but also  old-fashioned fountain pens.

Fountain pens  (use) in schools long ago and have been more popular recently because they are refillable(可填充的). Today, a writer may  (simple) throw an empty pen away and get  new one.

So far, Mrs. Larry has been satisfied with the results of her experiment. She shows that her students are paying more attention to their work, and their self-confidence has improved as well. She is pleased with the  (improve) she sees in her students' writing  in her own writing. She knows that computers are here  (stay) and that they will not disappear. However, she believes that the practice with fountain pens helps students to focus,  to write faster, and they can feel proud of  (they).
