—We get together to enjoy the moon and eat moon cakes.
The teacher sent me home with a note for my mother that said I needed to visit the eye doctor because I failed the vision test. The trip home that day was very slow.
My mother said it would all be just fine. "It wouldn't hurt a bit," she said. But I wasn't worried about pain-I was worried about looking 1.
The next day, my mother pulled me to the eye doctor's office. I 2 a set of frames (镜框) and tried to believe my mother when she said they looked really 3 on me. The doctor said the glasses would be ready soon. But I wasn't ready at all, and I didn't think I ever would be.
When the glasses arrived, the eye doctor put them on my face and walked me out onto the sidewalk in front of his office. When I looked 4 from my shoes, I found myself in a whole new world – a world filled with 5 pictures, bright colours, and fine detail everywhere I looked. Suddenly I 6 the beautiful outline of red leaves on trees. I could see the details of people's faces long before they were standing in front of me. I could see my mother 7 as she watched me see the world in a whole new way.
"Glasses aren't so bad, are they? " Mom asked.
"Not at all, " I thought to myself. On that first day, they were a 8.
The Monday morning came, and I had to 9 the kids in my classroom. And it happened, just like I feared it would be. A mean kid pointed at me in the middle of the maths class and shouted, "Four 10!" But at the same moment, looking through my new glasses, I could see all the way across the room that the kid who had said it had an awfully big nose.

Every mother is great, so is my mother. My mother is a common worker. But I love her very much. She is tall and of medium build. She has two big eyes. Her hair is black and curly. I think she is very beautiful.
My mother likes telling stories. She also likes helping others. So she is popular. She is hard-working like many other mothers. Whenever she is at home or at work, she is always busy. On weekends, she often cleans our house, so our house is very clean and tidy. And she likes planting flowers, too. She often says, "Flowers are beautiful. Planting flowers is fun and exciting. Flowers can make the air fresh and keep the house beautiful." She often gives flowers to her friends, too.
She is strict in my study. She often says to me, "Study is the most important thing to a student. You must study hard. Then you can do more and better for others and yourself." And she is also kind to me. Every day she takes good care of me. She often helps me. When I have trouble, I'd like to ask her for help."
This is my mother. She is the greatest and most beautiful mother in my eyes.
Can you write the Chinese characters(汉字) "ganga" (embarrassment) correctly? Do you know how to write characters like "tiaozhou"(broom)?
If you can't, you're not alone. Nowadays, most people are typing into computers instead of writing on paper, We type Chinese characters largely according to their pronunciation. The result is to recognize (认出) characters without remembering how to write them.
In 2013, China Youth Daily did a survey of 2, 517 people, in which 98.9 percent said they had once forgotten how to write a common Chinese character.
Compared to adults (成年人), teenagers are better at writing Chinese characters because they spend more time learning and practicing at school. However, the effect of digital technology cannot be ignored, according to He Yu, head of a research team for Chinese teaching at a Beijing high school. " Many students are obsessed (沉迷于) with digital devices such as electronic dictionaries and computers to help with their studies. Too much use of these tools will make students too lazy to think and write." He said.
Such worries have brought about a popular TV show titled Chinese Spelling Hero, which pays attention to Chinese character writing among teenagers. In April, the Ministry of Education called for better calligraphy (书法) education in schools. Organizations like the China Calligraphers Association are also working to train more teachers in calligraphy.
Interestingly, calligraphy teachers can't always avoid (避免) the effects of modern technology. Shen Bin is a calligraphy teacher at a primary school in Beijing. She admitted that it's common for teachers like her to forget certain words.
"The calligraphy class is also a good chance for me to remember how to write." She said.
It has more than 845 million users around the world. If it were a country, it would have the third largest population (人口) in the world, behind China and India. This is Facebook, a popular website from the USA. It is similar to Renren in China.
Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984. As a little kid, he loved creating little fun computer programs. He set up the network in February of 2004. He was then a second—year student at Harvard University. One day, he had the idea of building a website for Harvard students to get to know each other. He set up the Facebook website. Harvard students could share photos and their personal information there. Soon, the website became very famous. Zuckerberg decided to leave Harvard to run Facebook full time. It was the biggest adventure (冒险) in his life and later brought him great success. Now, the service is popular around the world.
Greetings such as "Have you checked your Facebook page today?" became a part of young people's everyday language in the USA. People can exchange messages and get the latest information about their friends on Facebook. Zuckerberg's dream is to connect people through the Internet. "Facebook is to make the world more open and connected," he said.
What's the young man's secret to success? Zuckerberg believes it's important to have an open mind and be ready to try new things. "The riskiest thing is to take no risks," he once said in an open letter. Sometimes the simplest ideas go furthest. We hope Mark can go much further, maybe even further than Bill Gates.

You will read about how you are a citizen in your school, community and nation. A citizen is a person who belongs to a place. You are a citizen of the community where you live and the nation where you were born.
Citizens Have Rights
As a citizen, you have rights that the government protects. A right is something you may do. As a citizen, you have a right to speak freely and to practice your religion. You also have the right to privacy. That means you may decide what to show or tell someone and what not to tell.
Citizens Have Responsibilities
Along with rights, citizens have responsibilities. A responsibility is something that you should do. For example, you should follow the laws. A law is a rule that everyone in a community, state or country must follow. Laws keep people safe and help them get along well with one another. When people follow the traffic laws, they help keep others safe. When you follow laws in a park, you help others enjoy the park.
Being a Good Citizen
Good citizens care about people's rights. They try to make things fair and safe for everyone. Good citizens work together to solve problems. Children can be good citizens by solving problems together in their school or community. They may follow proper steps to deal with problems. First, name the problem. Then, list ways to solve it. It was sunny this afternoon. Mum and I go to the park where is near my home for a walk. When we were walking, I saw the little girl. She was eating a banana. After she finished eating them, she threw the banana skin on the ground into the park. I walked over to pick it and told her it was wrong to do such. If all of us do like that, the park has become dirty. Then we can't enjoy by ourselves in it. All of us must protect our environment and then we can make our environment clean but beautiful. |
