In times of distress(悲伤), a friend would always suggest going for a walk. "Are you troubled by your work? Take a 1 around the neighborhood. " 2 like this are often made with nothing but the best of intentions, but they used to make me 3 as much as being told to drink more water. I did not understand how these things were going to help.
Three years ago, I hit a low point. Once I saw a pair of empty eyes looking at me through the mirror, I knew I was at my breaking point(极限). So, I took the advice. I went for a walk—with the 4 that it would somehow change my life.
I embraced(拥抱)the fresh air everyone seemed to be talking about. But I was just as sad as I was before. I went on a walk every single day for more than a month. Some days I could hardly make it outside, but I 5 to push through. I took a picture every time I went. I think I was trying to make an effort.
One day, the 6 thing happened. I found myself smiling. I realized I had 7 waited all morning to go on this walk. What I once hated had become the best part of my day. I found myself 8 to be outside. I just danced along the trails(小路), stopped to look at the beautiful blue skies and listened to music.
I'm glad I took pictures because there was a noticeable difference in my face. I slowly started to look less tired. I don't know why I 9 to go on that walk for so long. I guess I didn't want to believe that something small and seemingly meaningless could actually 10 my physical and mental health.
If you're having a bad day, a bad month, a bad year or even a bad life, you should try going for a walk. Sometimes, all we need to do is try.
Do dragons exist today? Although often mistaken for a mythical(神话的)creature, we actually live among several different types of "dragons. " For example, you may have seen dragonfly flying over a summer garden or read about a Komodo dragon lizard. The ocean has its share of dragons, too.
The blue dragon is a marine(海洋的)snail without a shell. It is commonly known as a blue sea slug(海参). This particular species of marine snail can swallow a bubble of air(which it holds in its stomach)that enables it to float upside down on the surface of the ocean. The underside of the slug is blue, and it back is a gray color. This helps to conceal it from birds flying overhead and from fish swimming below.
Blue dragons feed on poisonous jellyfish and other similar species. When food is in short supply, they will eat each other. They collect toxins(毒素)from the jellyfish and store it in many finger-like structures. This ability to store poison gives them a much stronger sting(刺)than the jellyfish itself. They use this poison as a defense against enemies. The sting can also be felt by people.
These creatures are rarely visible for study and observation except for when they come close to land during times of onshore winds. They have been seen in Hawaii and in tropical(热带)waters around the world. Beware(当心)of the blue dragon's sting!
In another corner of the room were a gas burner(煤气灶)and a fridge. Mrs. Jones got up and walked there. She did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now, nor did she watch her handbag, which she left behind her on the sofa. But the boy was careful to sit on the far side of the room, away from the bag, where he thought she could easily see him out of the corner of her eye if she wanted to. He did not trust the woman to trust him. And he did not trust the woman not to trust him. And he didn't want anyone to doubt him now.
"Do you need somebody to go to the store," asked the boy, maybe to get some milk or something?"
"Don't believe I do," said the woman, "unless you just want sweet milk yourself. I'm going to make chocolate milk. "
"That will be fine," said the boy.
Mrs. Jones heated some cooked food she had in the fridge and set the table. She didn't ask the boy anything about where he lived, or his parents, or anything else that would embarrass him. Instead, as they ate, she told him about her job in a hotel beauty shop that stayed open late, what the work was like, and how all kinds of women came in and out. Then she cut him half of her cake. "Eat some more, son" she said.
When they finished eating, Mrs. Jones got up and said, "Now, here, take this ten dollars and buy yourself some blue suede shoes. And, next time, do not make the mistake of stealing my bag nor nobody else's —because shoes got in this way will burn your feet. I've got to get my rest now. But, son, I hope you will behave yourself from now on.
The woman led the way down the hall to the front door and opened it. "Good night! Behave yourself, boy!" she said, looking into the street as he went down the steps.
The boy wanted to say something other than "Thank you, ma'am" to Mrs. Jones, but although his mouth moved, he couldn't even say that, as he turned at the front of the steps and looked up at the large woman in the door. Then Mrs. Jones shut the door. And the boy never saw her again.
On the way to a delivery destination, Huang Zhineng, carried a big backpack walking fast, while Huang Shaoli, kept up with his son and whispered him to be careful.
The father and son, different from other deliverymen, will always complete an order together. Huang Zhineng was diagnosed(诊断)with autism(自闭症)when he was 2 years old. This diagnosis made Huang's mother cry for three days. "None of us had an idea how to deal with his disorder," Huang Shaoli said. "However, the thing happened, and we had to face it. " Afterward, the couple took their son to receive training in a center for special children for years. "When I first heard him say a sentence: ‘Dad, hug me,' I just stood there, full of surprise. I hugged him back tightly with tears when he opened his arms. "
Since 2016, when Huang Shaoli became a part-time deliveryman in Shenzhen, he has taken his son with him for every delivery. Huang's now 16-year-old son has completed nearly 3,000 deliveries with him and his wife in six years. According to Huang Shaoli, sending deliveries provides his son a chance to go out and communicate with the clients(客户). "And we can earn a living from the job," he said. In addition, he hoped that the deliveries could help deal with his son's condition as well as relieve(缓解)his anxiety for his son's future.
At about 3 p. m. Saturday, they dressed well in their uniforms and were ready to set out for deliveries from their home at Luhu Community in Longhua District. "My favorite buses are those with bus numbers starting with K or M, because those buses are fast, and they can drive on expressways. I also like taking Metro lines 10 and 14," Huang Zhineng said, He enjoys listening to blowing wind sounds and viewing the scenes from the buses.
When they received an order at about 5 p. m. , Huang Zhineng realized that the route was complicated(复杂). He hardly walks the wrong way, and his father said that his son keeps a public transport map in his mind, remembering almost every bus and Metro route. After nearly an hour, the father and son delivered the cake to the client. The father said, "Zhineng can communicate with shop assistants and clients smoothly, few of them would detect he is different. "
"My only wish to my kid is that he can live independently. I cannot accompany him all the time," Huang Shaoli said with hope.
When you're trying to make friends, you'll probably meet someone who just doesn't like you, though you've never done anything personally to him/her. Here's some advice.
Gossip(流言蜚语)can make meeting new people difficult, especially when people hear something bad about you. It can prevent someone from getting to know you at all. When you're in a situation like this, it feels awful. Rather than working hard to try to win them over, however, just be yourself. In time, they will see that the gossip about you is wrong. Don't worry about it and move on by making friends with the people who deserve to have you in their life.
You'd think that your friend's friends would also become your friends. But it doesn't work that way. Sometimes people are happy with the friendships they have, and they aren't interested in adding any more. If someone chooses not to be friends with you just because you're new to the group, it's fine.
An even more difficult situation is when someone has actually met you and just doesn't like you. Every joke you make is taken the wrong way. As much as it hurts, accept that not everyone is going to be your friend. Don't take it personally. These things could happen to everyone. There are just some people you're not going to click with.
If someone doesn't want to be your friend, that's okay. Don't get mad at them because it's their choice. Instead, give your time and attention to the people that are interested in hanging out with you.
A. Every time you try to do something nice, they find fault.
B. There's nothing wrong about you or them.
C. The things you do are completely accepted by them.
D. In friendship, it's important to focus on the positives with people.
E. Or, they may choose to believe it.
F. Well, what should you do?
